This set was taken in New Delhi, you will enjoy Delhi! I will post more from Chennai another town further south. Bangalore, I understand is where the beautiful homes are, like the Beverly hills of India....enjoy your vacation and the food...

Bangalore/Bengalure was nice warmer and less pollution than New Delhi. Enjoyed the entire trip. Got back just before Christmas. Time to post some pictures I suppose.

Nice shots. I was in Iceland myself in August 2015. Absolutely loved it. I remember these locations and especially liked Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. The 3rd photo stands out for me with a sense of majesty it provokes. I’m just curious though about the last shot though. While it is stunning and i love how the colors just pop, why put the church so far off to the left?

I appreciate your efforts to capture what you see in the night but I find that you are forgetting that your eye can and does see much more than your camera sensor can capture. That being the case I find that your images are missing so much by not being fully post processed.
I've taken the liberty of taking one of your images and putting just 2 minutes of effort in Adobe Light Room 6 have put my thoughts into several actions there in.My first action was to adjust both the blacks and whites. This raised the image contrast. I then reduced the highlights and boosted the shadows. Then I added a gr\Graduated filter on the lower third of the image to further bring up the shadow detail. This filter was angled to match that of the wall. I then did a final adjustment of both the contrast and exposure settings.
You may not have access to Adobe products but I'm certain that comparable post processing applications are available to you in China.
I hope that this has helped and keep up you night imaging.
I appreciate your efforts to capture what you see ... (show quote)

Thanks, I don't think anything is comparable to Adobe. And finding stuff, especially software here is not easy. There used to be copy versions of Adobe available but all translated into Chinese and my reading ability isn't good enough to go there yet. It really is a pain that as an American customer even I can not buy simply for the "Sin" of living in China. All I can do really is try using the Apple products I guess. Thanks for the critique. Cheers, Bob

Shanghai? Your work seems nice to me.

Thanks, The one temple shot was from Shanghai. The bulk of the shots was from a small city called DaTong in Shanxi province about 5 or 6 hours west of Beijing where I went for a few days not long ago. Those lit up buildings were atop the rebuilt old city walls.

You will never get the very best night shots you are capable of without a tripod. You will be amazed at how good they can be. I love night photography too, but learned very quickly that the tripod is my friend! I hate blurry photos when I wanted crystal clear, and you cannot hand hold for many of the best night shots. Get a lightweight tripod and an off camera shutter release and you will see how much your photography will improve. Just my 5 cents worth.............

Appreciate the nickels worth really. Yeah I will start taking it more often.. I've done so a few times to do some long exposure shooting. Its fine when I am just hoping in the car and going, I just get lazy when I add the tripod to my already heavy camera bag and other suitcases for flights away from home. Anyway, I will be going to India in about a week and I will definitely take the tripod with me this time. The shutter release is always in my bag already.

I'm looking forward to it and hping not to gain too much weight while I am there! Looking forward to your Chennai pics as well. As to the reputation of Bangalore that is news to me. I'm just going to a weekend retreat there and then spending a few extra days to look around. I would love to spend more time in country. It is not that terribly far from China that I should've taken this long to go. After all I've bracketed the country with two trips to the Maldives on the one side and SriLanka on the other. Next visit will definitely happen. I need to take in Cashmere, Coimbatore, Mumbai, The Taj Mahal & Goa still at the very minimum.

Cheers,

Bob

Ah. You don’t understand Yes I love blue hour photos. But I’m talking about well afterwards when the sky is black black and I’m trying to capture a well lit object and getting my camera settings right so the photo actually reflects what I’m seeing Black sky. Instead often times the camera gives me a blueish sky.
Blue hour photos are great but sometimes I want the black more

Would love to but Adobe doesn’t want my money since I live in China. The only product that they will allow here is the reader. So I don’t do much post

My favorite photo time is nights. It is reason number one that I upgraded to the Nikon D4S from the D3S when I did. But it's hard getting the settings just right so the sky actually stays black instead of blueing up and the lights of the subject don't get blown out. I tend to shoot handheld which doesn't help. Too lazy to lug my tripod around usually. Any suggestions would be great.

Wow, this is great. Love the photos. I LITERALLY 30 seconds ago finished my application for the India Visa online! I'll be on my way to New Delhi and Bangalore on the 10th of this month.
Can you tell us where each of these were taken?

Thanks for sharing!
Bob
