I personally would NOT risk life & property trying to salvage a L-ion battery.

I HAVE observed that small L-Ion Batteries WILL swell if left to discharge completely. Both cameras & audio equipment.
The camera places a parasitic load on the battery [RTC] which will cause far shorter full charge times.

I had to use a long nose pliers to remove the battery from its slot where it pops up because of spring action. The last shoot was only a month ago. How could it expand that fast. Battery is one recommended by Fujifilm.
I know manuals say to remove batteries when not in use for an EXTENDED PERIOD of time. How long is that?
Can you restore the enlarged battery to its former size? Hoggers here who have several cameras: how sure are you that a battery is not “hulking” in one of them. Do you have a method?

Batteries in modern electronics [including most cameras] are subject to parasitic drain supporting the Real Time Clock.
This GREATLY reduces the storage life while in the 📷 camera.

After 30 years I am retiring from B&H Photo as of 05/03/24. My job is being transferred to Geoffrey Ngai <gngai@bhphoto.com>.

Working for B&H and interacting here with all of you has been a singular and entirely satisfying experience. I want to thank everyone here who helped make it so. When I started at B&H I never expected to be here for 30 years, Now it's time to step back, stop setting the alarm clock every morning, and spend more time paying attention to my wife.

Best wishes to one and all.

Something about black and white that renders a subject like this beautiful in a way that a color image just can’t. Character it has, for sure. It’s a very nice photo, a wall hanger for sure.

Shot a LOT of B&W back in Film Days for several reasons:
1 Tri-X was fast for Available Light Photography.
2. All I could afford to develop.
3. Liked the look!

Greetings.

Today I attended an event (ok, it was the Acro-Cats, a traveling show of trained cats. Please don’t laugh.) Photography was encouraged but “professional “ cameras were not allowed, by which they meant cameras with interchangeable lenses.

I’m planning for the next such event. Since bridge are mostly gone now, what camera would you recommend? Preferably cheap. Possibly used. Probably with a relatively long focal length.

Thanks!!!!!

Try Goodwill for one of the small Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS6 [or similar] cameras Truly Shirt pocket size & very capable.

Have used a series of Lumix cameras over the years with great results.

IMHO, if we use the word image for highly processed "Photographs" we can help clarify this discussion.

This is a swag, but in many experience many devices which trigger something on or off just ground the device. I think this is how at least some hand remotes for cameras work. If such, you might he able to wire one device to all your cameras/camcorders. The one trigger would fire them all at the same time, again need cables and if far apart probably a huge tripping issue and there also goes the camera.

Warning: I blew circuit boards to pieces trying to do this on an instrument at work.

RE WARNING:
Yes. In most cases, you have to provide COMPLETELY ISOLATED contacts for EACH Device. Each device may have a different ground/power supply reference. Also, most of these new devices can use a Pull-Up/Pull-Down resistor to reduce current flow.

Audio Example: RDL [Radio Design Labs] makes 2 seperate versions of many of it's modules.
The basic device is specified for ISOLATED Power supply. [One seperate PSU wall pack for each device]
The COMMON Power Supply versions are designed especially to operate from a common power source.

CCTV Studio Video I did years ago [NTSC] used genlock Cameras to sync crossfades etc.
This was all Hardwired BNC Connected [Or Special Connections for Sony, Panasonic, Etc.]
The studio applications that require this are "Professionally Priced"

Absolutely and solely a matter of personal taste. To me, creatures (and humans) look better on canvas, because the texture of canvas more closely approximates the texture of feathers, fur, hair, skin, etc. I reserve metal for landscapes, which (again, just my opinion) look fantastic on metal.

If you decide to go with metal, I would avoid the sheer options. Those allow the natural aluminum color to show through a bit. I like those surfaces for metallic subjects such as autos, boats, planes, etc.

As suggested by someone above, if you decide to print on canvas I'd suggest boosting saturation a bit, as canvas presents noticeably less vibrant prints than does metal.

This sounds like a reasonable artistic interpretation of the Metal & Canvas media.

This discussion is interesting for the sheer number of responses suggesting the use of actual FILM!

Another thing to consider. If it really is so dark that you need to push iso that high....it may be simply too little light for your autofocus system to operate reliably. When that happens revert to manual focus.

Makes sense!

It is in a hotel; there were several tables like these that I could see from the street, which is where I was when I photo'd, so I know nothing

Thank you!
Street view of table makes sense to see something we normally don't!
