My ET 8550 printer been unavailable for months and finally coming. Price went up $100 from time I put my name on the notification list.
Can print 13x19 which I'll never do but will do 11x14 often

We bought an Epson Ecotank printer shortly after they came out. Shortly after the warranty ran out, the print heads became clogged and no amount of cleaning would revive them. In talking with Epson support we were told that we weren’t printing often enough and that the ink would dry out in the heads. Perhaps newer versions of the printer have resolved that problem, but the suggestion from Epson was to print something at least every week or so.

Apple wants $400 more to go from 1TB HDD to same size 1TB SSD.

When you purchase a computer from Apple, upgrades to storage and memory are overpriced. I've always purchased the minimum memory and upgraded through third-party suppliers. Unfortunately, Apple has made it impossible to add memory to many of its current computers. Adding aftermarket storage was always trickier unless you wanted to use external drives.

You might consider just getting the minimum HDD setup from Apple and adding an external SSD drive from an aftermarket vendor. That works fine on a desktop machine but would be a hassle for a laptop.

Unless you need a new Mac right away, you may want to wait a bit. Apple is moving to new machines that use new M1 chips. So far only limited choices are available but they have received very positive reviews. M1 Macs certainly seem to be the future for Apple. I'd be hesitant to invest in any Apple Intel-based machine unless I just couldn't wait.

Can anyone advise if the Apple Mac computer fusion drives are reliable. Seems like a long way back I heard there were problems. I understand they are a hybrid with SDD and HDD components. Are they noticeably faster? Thanks for info regarding your experience.

I’ve had an iMac for several years with a fusion drive. It’s performed well and I’ve had no problems with it. The way it works is that most-used processes and programs are shifted to the SSD to take advantage of its much faster operation. That being said, the price of solid state drives have come down to the point that the spinning drive can be eliminated entirely. I believe that Apple is phasing out fusion drives in favor of all SSD.

I have been experimenting with the trial version of Topaz Denoise AI and have been very pleased with the results. However, when the files are saved back into Lightroom, the files are dramatically larger, going from a 20 MB RAW file to around 100 MB TIFF. Do most Denoise users just live with these large files, save Denoise results as JPEGs, or something else?

What does any one know about the new epson printers that have the ink tanks in them

We had one in our small office where we would often print large numbers of pages but then go days or weeks without printing anything. The print heads ended up clogging and no amount of cleaning could revive them. A not-so-old, expensive printer ended up being an unrepairable piece of trash. Customer service told us that prints should be made frequently, even daily, to avoid ink drying and clogging the print heads. I wish this advice would have been included in the manual.

I am thinking about cutting the cable cord and looking into tv antenna's. We have 4 towers within 95 miles but lots and lots of trees so I am thinking I will need an outdoor model.

My question's for everyone are:

1. What model do you have?
2. Does it work like it's supposed to?
3. Would you purchase the same model again?

Thanks
Cindy

We use an over-the-air antenna that is roof mounted. Our location is in heavy woods and we are about 50 miles from transmitters. I think that you will find that the trees are going to be a big issue. In the summer, with the trees fully leafed out, our reception breaks up if it's windy or raining. It's a fair amount of work to install a roof antenna. If you have a professional installer in your area it might be useful to talk over your issues with them before going to all the trouble of installing an antenna only to find its reception unsatisfactory.

Sometimes unplugging the printer for a few minutes and then restarting solves printer problems. If that doesn’t help, try deleting the printer from System Preferences—>Printers & Scanners and then adding it back as a new printer.

I am going to be visiting the Galapagos Islands in December and am looking for suggestions as to what gear I should bring along. I currently shoot an Olympus OM-D E-M1 II with an Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 M.Zuiko Pro lens. Ideas regarding other gear that I should consider purchasing or renting for this trip would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
