Hi there,

Try Clifton Camera's "cliftoncameras.co.uk" i have had many items from them without a problem, they also arrange finance so you can afford to buy better lenses and equipment.

I have bought many camera's and lenses from Clifton Camera's cliftoncameras.co.uk and never had a problem with them, i would recommend them to you.
They also do finance to help with your outgoings, take a look at what they have in stock, both new and used equipment.

My first Canon camera was the AE-1 and i still use it regularly, i have always cleaned my camera's ( inside and out ) after using them and also had them serviced regularly, mistreating camera's
and expecting them just to continue working, no matter who the maker is, is a big mistake.
I just get the feeling you have used your camera on the beach in the past, and the beach is a very hostile place for a camera.
Getting back to Canon i have no problems at all with the service i have received from them.

Welcome! I’m a (real) Motorsport fan but don’t get a lot of road racing opportunities over here. Grab a shot of Lewis’s latest snog, and you’ll be almost famous.

I do have a couple of Lewis ( Hamilton ) The F1 British Grand Prix is a regular haunt of mine, but as you would imagine it gets so busy it is quite difficult to get a good shot of any of the drivers without being nudged or knocked mid shot.

You could take a look at focus stacking with a good macro and slider kit and good lighting. You would however need to be competent
in post processing, but the outcome would be very sharp close ups from front to back, giving very impressive images.

I do not see much emotion Alan in the captured image. looks like he is out peddling on a nice day.

Yes he does look relaxed, 45,miles into the race, but believe me he is panting, i guess this how Professionals are.

When you eventually visit the falls don't forget to pack a good ND filter for those silky waterfalls.

Grandpas don't go cheap on their grand kids. Grandpas and Grandmas job is to spoil the grand kids.

I could not agree more, i have 9 grandchildren and they cost me more than my wife ( not complaining ) but they are happy.

At the end of the day it is your Grandson's choice and preference and also your advice to him that will make the final choice.

Whatever he chooses i'm sure he will love photography for years to come.

Not too sure about price of Nikon, Sony, but the
Canon EOS-1DX mark II does not come cheap, even used, but if you are looking to spend $xxxx on him the canon would be a good choice.

Also bear in mind Canon lenses always seem to be a little more expensive for some reason.
