I am wondering if there are any sources for good, used lenses. I really would love to be able to afford an f2.8 or even f1.8 prime lens or modest zoom 28-175 or so. Is there such a source?? thanks

Check KEH and B&H for starters. There are many more including your local brick and mortar.

Amazon usually list used lenses.
Do a search for the lens you are interested in and look for a link to the right of the new price.
It will be something like (5 used offers) in blue.

Ebay Japanese vendors are most excellent source over most all others.

I have always done well with eBay as long as you are patient and check out the seller. Be aware that 'bargains' on eBay are usually a function of the riskiness of the seller.

Try KEH, mpb ( https://www.mpb.com/en-us/ ) and Adorama if you want the reasurance of dealing with established companies that will allow returns, but their prices will typically be higher than eBay.

Hi there,

Try Clifton Camera's "cliftoncameras.co.uk" i have had many items from them without a problem, they also arrange finance so you can afford to buy better lenses and equipment.

Which prime lenses are you considering? How much do you hope to spend?

I was thinking about an 85mm; f2.8 for about $200. might be dreaming. I have Canon Rebel Ti3 body. My go-to lens is a 28-135 and have the big one 100-400mm. But sometimes I really think more light than what f3.5-5.6 would be nice.

That focal length on a crop sensor body like your's will give you an 35mm equivalent angle of view of 136mm which would be best used for things like portraits or close in street photography. What were you planning on using it for? At its price point the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM is considered a good value.

B&H is selling new Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM lenses for $300, supposedly $120 off the current list price. Canon is currently selling refurbished copies of the same lens for $240 with a one year new lens warranty I believe. That lens is 1 & 1/3 stops faster than an f/2.8 lens and lets in a lot more light and with a much shallower depth of field. So you are really not dreaming. It can be had refurbished for only a bit more than you were hoping for. I've attached a link to each one .

Also Used PhotoPro, they are part of Roberts Camera in Indianapolis. I order used gear from them too. They are a great company.

Ebay has thousands. You have a 30 day return policy if you are not happy though paying with paypal. It is easy to set up an account and you can save hundreds of dollars buying through ebay over used from B&H, Adorama, on KEH. I always buy mint with the box and a very good seller rating.

I bought a really good canon 24-105 'L' from Adorama and I love it, and I just bought another lens from www.mpb.com out of NYC. Take a look, it is also excellent, then there is KEH and also BHPhotoVideo.
