I have been told over the years, That the time to buy a new replacement for a piece of equipment is when you know everything there is to know about the piece now in your possession...O have a Nikon D5100 and I will have it for a long time. I am still being schooled on several screens there. Just a thought......

nice shots . Australia is one of the few places where a wagon train that long is tolerated. I cannot imagine one of those cattle trains on the straits of the mid west..here in USA

I thought about making some comments about your framing and filling the frame but I usually am talking through my hat The pics are exceptionally good I must look at them more than once to enjoy the fullness of them and each time I look, I see something I missed before. Thanks much for the photos and posting...

Very nice and clear too. I have tried taking the same pic and it looks like I am seeing double. I guess an image stabilizer might be something to look for. Thanks for the pic.

I have an older NikonD5100 and my standard lens is Nikon 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 GR very happy with it and I on a lark purchased an NEEWER 0.45 Hi Def Wide angle lens. Super lens additive for my likings anyhow but the price was less than $50.. Cant beat that with a switch...and it serves me well. Only thing now is to rethink photography, for I am one unlearned dummie...

With my morning cup of tea, I just love to watch the comings and goings of our humming birds (Ruby Throated Hummers here in Wisconsin) and I noticied early this summer that we had nothing but female hummers here. Thought that was something wrong. Consulted an Ornithologist. My ignorance must have shown there. They were the Juveniles. I guess any dummie would know this except tis I.. However a rare sighting for my friend good shot.

I too graduated from film to Digital and I started with an Argus C3 - good point and shoot . Nothing more and I learned after many failed shots how to light and frame a pic. then on to a Canon T70 where you either ap priority fstop priority then with try and fail It was a costly lesson believe me. I have a closet full of slides and photos I'll not show public. But I learned Fstop and focus that stuff. Manually was a good teacher also and now I have a well used Nikon 5100 . I very seldom use the point and shoot now and I can repair any flaw by inserting Paintshop Pro. a lifesaver. What a difference a day makes. Just an observation

I don't really know all the ins and outs of this DSL5100 but It tells me to put a sd card in the slot and without it GO FOR BROKE. My old canon D70 is the better of the two cameras for this reason I get what I shoot and watch the dial change as the film advances.
