Go north to Abiquiu area and see Ghost Ranch and its yellow, red, pink, white cliffs. There's a rustic guest ranch so you can even stay in there if you want early/late shots. Bandelier and Puye Cliffs great ancient cliff dwellings. Taos Pueblo. And any where around the Santa Fe Plaza is worth a stroll to get the beautiful adobe architecture!

Definetly go see Mesa Verde National Park. Late afternoon sun the best for many of the cliff dwellings to be in full light. And it's a beautiful drive from Durango with old wooden barns in green fields along the highway. Not to be missed!
