Don’t we tend to physically measure in metric but mentally measure in SAE? It is the easiest path for me as I can convert one to the other later if needed.
Too bad "Global Warming" wasn't a term then. I'm being sarcastic. Everything today is blamed on this.
Jerry, great topic.
We used Optimum (internet, TV & Phone) here in rural CT for ages. In January I called and removed phone and TV which reduced the bill a tiny bit. Last fall Frontier had strung fiber optic along our street and they just sent us an ad for internet that is a third of what Optimum’s new (and they said “special”) rate was for internet only. And 2x speed no less. With the Frontier advertisement in front of me I called Optimum again and after 45 minutes got another $10/month off. Wow. I then called Frontier to set up an installation! The guys came on Sunday, got it working with their free routers and extenders. I then called to cancel Optimum. This call took over an hour with multiple holds so that they could come back on the phone with a new rate. I could not cancel and they would not honor my multiple cancellation demands. Eventually, I got a supervisor and, you know what? He put me on hold and came back with a rate that matched Frontier. I was furious. What an ordeal.
And, yes, these firms grossly overcharge customers when they can. Unabashedly. But there is nothing like competition!

“TESTORS DOPE” was worse than the glue. You were instructed to paint it one the model airplane’s tissue paper wings and fuselage. Lots of exposed surfaces to fill the room! And it took some time to get all that done.
This is a terrific event. However, Woodward Cruise was originally intended for US manufacturers only. 20+ years ago I drove my brother’s red ‘54 Jaguar XK120 roadster at the event. Great fun but I did get some not so friendly looks. I wonder if the spectators today are as sensitive. After all the McLaren is a great looking car.
As you likely know the NLs vary every day based on a number of factors. The main ones are latitude, weather and solar activity. I went to Iceland in January to photograph the aurora and successfully used the app "AuroraAlerts" to predict what I might see.
Photographing the event is tricky as well so brush up on that process before you go!

Turn it off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on?
Have you ever watched the TV serial “IT Crowd”? It is on Netflix now. This is Roy’s favorite line.
Was the dress shirt was for her husband's viewing? How did he die?
Perhaps you are aware of this already. HDD manufacturers monitor their read/write error performance on new product. There is an acceptable limit allowed prior to shipment. None of these errors cause you any harm other than slowing the HDD due to its self-correcting process.
Possibly SSDs have a similar issue - I don't know - but it is interesting to read their material. I'm sure there is a logical explanation versus something like the Monkeys in the cage or the soldiers guarding the bench - "It's what we've always done"...
I read this to my wife with “our government will study anything” preface. She believed it…

Is it just me or does no one say you’re welcome anymore? Whenever I am out in a restaurant, store etc. and someone does something for me I say “Thank You”
Almost invariably the response in no longer “You’re Welcome” but “No Problem”
Does it bother anyone else or should I get a life and not worry about it?
Be happy you get a response. Common courtesy seems to be vanishing - not so common anymore. For example, when I hold a door for someone you'd think you'd hear "Thank You" - like you are doing. Half the time there is no response nor eye contact for that matter. And, I do have to say this appears to be age dependent.
God! Jest love it!! Reminds me of my days in NC. Not real sure my Boston buddies will “git it”.
Anyone remember what a hairy buffalo was? And more exactly, how it was presented?
