It all depends on the camera and lens.

Many cameras and lenses can handle rough weather. I usually carry a towel in case I have to have to wipe some water off.

Yes sir, I think my camera (Nikon D7200) is suppose to be able to handle rain but i dont know about the lens (Sigma 100-400, Nikon 18-140) I just want to make sure I do not ruin my camera as I can not afford a new one! haha

Have a great vacation. In my camera bag, I have an OpTech RainSleeve. I also have a Ruggard Rain Cover. There really isn’t much difference. But when we were at Niagara Falls everyone was protecting their cameras except me.

But can these be used while still attached to a camera strap?

I am going on an Alaskan Cruise soon and was wondering if there is anything that I can put my camera in to protect it from potential rain. I would like something that will protect is with a lens attached while being attached to my neckstrap around my neck as I am hiking/walking. Any suggestions?

Yes children....get out your coloring crayons. How disappointing when someone posts a really colorful landscape shot and then you go there expecting these vibrant colors only to see drab colors that dont come close to the oversaturated photos people put out now. FAKE..

I hate to see over processed photos. Years back, I subscribed to outdoor photography magazine until they had their landscape photography contest. The winners were the most garish, fake looking photos I’ve seen. Couldn’t believe it. Cancelled my subscription. Some people just can’t lay off the vibrancy and saturation sliders. These kinds of photos become the norm and people are sensitized to only appreciate a photo if it knocks your eyeballs out. It’s enough to make you stay with minimalist black and white!

Totally agree.

You might do better if you would have wiped off the lens, the cap and the table it is sitting on before you took the picture. There are fingerprints, dust and even stains on the table from some cups or glasses that have been set upon it. Not very clean at all.

Random online allegations of poor products / services / etc tend to fall apart when more context is provided. With zero knowledge of the specifics, everyone can freely insert their own imagined version of the events, or this question.

Asking what the question is / was is an effort to help, rather than just more mob pile-on fake rage at Nikon. Guess, something you don't understand.

Yea, I am not a know it all. Maybe someday though!

All I can say is that according to the experts here, all you need is a cell phone to get high level professional quality images, because it's what you see and how you see it that's important, not whether you have an expensive camera or not. Your gear is probably overkill, so I would sell it all and get an IPhone. You probably already have one.

Or...

Others will say that you don't need any camera to get great pictures, you can just type your vision into a computer to get better images than come from any camera. AI is the future, so get in now. Be an early adopter. Get ahead of the curve.

Or do what I do, which is whatever I want to, because arguing over gear and whether this or that is better is an exercise in futility. You'll never hear anything new or different...

You are correct. That is all you need as long as you are satisfied with the results....and there is no reason the results should not be anything but wonderful.

Yep, maybe, although dino21 certainly can plan for little help going forward.
