After 30 years I am retiring from B&H Photo as of 05/03/24. My job is being transferred to Geoffrey Ngai <gngai@bhphoto.com>.

Working for B&H and interacting here with all of you has been a singular and entirely satisfying experience. I want to thank everyone here who helped make it so. When I started at B&H I never expected to be here for 30 years, Now it's time to step back, stop setting the alarm clock every morning, and spend more time paying attention to my wife.

Best wishes to one and all.

Daryl.....

I am just a 'messanger'...
.. My degree is in Law Enforcement... Not math
... You might wish to discuss that with TrustPilot ???

Cheers

Sure thing Goldstar46. TrustPilot certainly needs a lesson in mathematics or a 'fix' for their AI programming.

Ken, I have never used the web services of Mercari

But I do "Trust" the reviews on "TrustPilot.com" -- and they don't look good
....... Overall 'average rating' of 1.7 stars out of a total of 5 stars.. with over 19,200 reviews

.......... I think I would pass.. Personal Opinion

See the below screenshot and/or go to the Trust Pilot website and check...

Based on the numbers of reviews provided in the photo, 1.7-stars does not compute. The actual number calculates out to 3.7-stars! With 57% giving a 5-star rating, the average would still be over 3 stars even if the remaining 43% were giving only a single star. Math must be hard for some people/machines.

Here is one I wrote for a high school assignment in the late 60s:

Up, Up, and Away,
Flew a jet from TWA.

But because of a blunder,
They were wracked by rain and thunder,

And all found dead,

the very next day!

Yes, it is sad; indeed, a great loss.

OSINT - Open Source Intelligence

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3NsT8lJRlE&t=59s

Youtube's Part 2 covers five ways to find the metadata/exifdata in an image or video.

Metadata is the key of clues when it comes to images, videos, documents or any other file type for that matter. This day and age, it is increasingly rare to come across a full packet of metadata. But in case there is a wide spread of information such as who created it, where it was made and when it was made, it’s good to know some basic ways to check for that attached information.

This tutorial does not cover the full extent of how to look up exif and metadata, but if you’re new to the topic, it will hopefully help.

The OSINT At Home series is useful for those looking to find digital breadcrumbs and pick up some methods of open source intelligence (OSINT), digital investigations and good old plain research. No matter who you are, or where you are in the world, you can follow these tutorials from home with publicly available information to answer questions such as who, what, where and when.

If I charge $600/month for three months, Citibank will give me $11/month credit, for a total of $33. Somehow, that's not a very tempting offer.

Jerry,

Link your card with Amazon for points you can use to pay for things you order from them. Then, use your card to pay for most, if not all of your expenses you normally pay for with cash and/or checks. The points rack up rather quickly. Afterwards, pay off the card each month so you don't have to pay interest charges. You can save a lot of money that way.

I got a Pedometer from Trisport. It counts from step one but disregards the figure if you don't go past a certain no. of steps. Can't remember what that is, but it's the best pedometer I've ever had.

There are numerous free apps for your cell phones, both Apple and Android phones, that will count your steps. No need to purchase an additional pedometer or other technology. You can also use your cell phone to listen to podcasts or music (XM radio, FM radio, commercial radio stations) while you walk.

GREAT NEWS!

A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. After three operations and treatment (and six months out from the last operation) I went in today for a checkup. As of now, I am cancer free. I had been dreading this appointment.

What a great way to start the New Year. Praise the Lord.

Wonderful news indeed! We are so happy for you.

Police are immune to most lawsuits. "Qualified Immunity" is a term developed by the courts so cops can't be sued or prosecuted for most things.

Jerryc41,

“Qualified immunity,” is a legal doctrine that keeps police officers safe from civil lawsuits. It does not protect them from criminal lawsuits and the qualified immunity could be removed leaving the officer(s) open to civil lawsuits. We have witnessed police officers applying authorized procedures and then being prosecuted for violating a suspect's civil rights, the 4th Amendment, or applying authorized procedures improperly.

Currently, there are a number of state legislatures and even Congressmen who are attempting to end qualified immunity for police officers.

Maybe one of you 2nd Amendment Rights people can tell me why anyone, other than the military, needs access to an AR-15 or similar rifles. I have no problems with people owning handguns as long as they meet certain commonsense guidelines.

Apacs1,

AR-15's and similar rifles are semi-automatic; they are not automatic rifles like M-16's and AK-47's. They just look like automatic weapons! Thus, like any rifle, Americans are free to own and use them. These rifles can strike a target at distances over 300 meters; much much further and much more accurately than a handgun is capable of. Sort of like a photographer using a 300mm lens versus a 50mm lens. Does it really matter if a person "needs" that capability, or simply "wants" it, for their own personal reasons? Our Rights are not based on "need". We are, or should be, free to exercise them as long as our exercise does not interfere with another person's Rights.
