Terrific post. Not all cars were stock. My Buddy was looking for 1940 Ford coupe. I spotted one in a junkyard---40 coupe with 49 Cadillac engine, Hydromatic transmission, approx 100 gallon stainless tank built in the trunk. It had a sophisticated levelling system, a hand pump by drivers seat & hydraulic actuators on rear axle. A 10 gallon oil tank with spray bar, if the feds got too close, along with a few bullet holes, every thing but good brakes (nothing back then did). The owner of the junk yard did not want to sell---advised my Buddy that every lawman in east Tn knew the car. Being an invincible teen ager he bought it anyway-----had much greif with it but could outrun any thing on the road. Another buddy had a 48 Cadillac Hearse---great hauler---never even pursued! This was all within about 25 miles of Cleveland, Tn---------Henry
I owned a 1955 Studebaker, body was the same except for the grill, which was horizontal instead of the vertical square. Otherwise the same. Mine was Prima red with black top. Drove it for about 10 years--approx 250k miles. Had very little trouble except for a truck load of generators & starters (these were made by G M--Delco). Great car---still miss it ---Henry Wattenbarger.
This also verifies a little known law of Physics; The law of elevated horizontal surfaces----No elevated horizontal surface will remain empty or clean!!! This led to the filing/ retrieval concept of reverse chronological order for searching. Henry Watt-----
Very nice photo----recognize the location----Keep shooting ---Grandpa
I agree that the sound of the Jag 4.2 was wonderful; however it was not a V-8 but an in-line DOHC 6---No V-8 ever sounded this good--Henry.
The TR4 production was from 1961 thru about 65 then TR4A thru 67. The 68 was TR250 in the us (TR5 in old foggy) It had the TR4A body with the 6 cylinder engine & rear IRS (as most TR4A's). The first TR6 was in 69. Great cars, easy work on & maintain. I still have a 68 TR 250, have owned about 15 TR's mostly $500 cars for repair/ restoration---Henry
The Porsche appears to be a Speedster, not a Spyder & possibly a replica. The rear view mirror does not appear to be original.-----Henry
I suggest you look @ some Pawn Shop cameras. Inexpensive & somewhat risky; I have had good luck with them. Consider this another adventure----Henry
Ditto----John Deere lots of other work outside. I encourage everyone to wear hats---I wear a Pith type--protects my clean scalp & ears----Henry IX,
Idea: The Thrift stores, Goodwill etc usually have office chairs, inexpensive. Try that & fabricate a cantilevered monopod using Electrical conduit or even better "Unistrut". With that you are on wheels &have easy assess & egress with sturdy support for the equipment-------Henry
Thanks--much appreciated----Henry
Thanks for the advice---Henry
Thanks---I appreciate the suggestions-----Henry
I do some old machinery & old buildings photography. My primary activity is as a Building inspector. Lots of photo's; quantity over quality. In some adverse conditions---rain, mud , bright sunlight. Equipment gets banged around, even dropped on concrete or mud! Looking for a upper level p&s or low end Mirrorless. An optical viewfinder, or electronic is important in bright sunlight. Would like to stay no more than $500. I'm tired of pawn shop cameras. Any recommendations greatly appreciated. Henry IX
