You are probably wondering, "What is a pet car." I have a very simple definition. It's a car you want, but definitely do not need. I have owned three pet cars in my lifetime.
My first was this 1956 Studebaker Power Hawk. It was a car I wanted in 1956. but could not afford. I pulled this car from a junk yard in 1973 for $100.00 and fully restored it myself except for the body work and paint. This model came with a 259 V-8 and two barrel carb, but I refitted it with a Stude 289 V-8 with Carter AFB 4-barrel. It had the Borg Warner three speed with overdrive that I loved. It was the love of my life for 12 years.

Beautiful, I could never understand why the car was not popular.
That's a sweet story. I see nothing wrong with having a pet car! Beautiful shot of you little cutie.
I was among the first 1953 STUDEBAKER owners in central Indiana; it caused a minor revelation everywhere I went!
I was in the USAF at the time, stationed in South Carolina. Whenever I would stop for gas or whatever, I just expected to find folks on top of it or under it whenever I came out!
Onetime, One of the guys had a new Mercury convertable; we decided on a race. guess who won? ME. I could not hold him on straightaways but, in the mountains, I just ate him alive!!!

Excellent work on a classic! Thanks for sharing.
Now that is a classic. It looks great.
Beautiful. In fact, I consider that one of the best looking cars built.

Studebaker made some really fine cars, most ahead of their time, sorely under appreciated. Golden, Silver hawks, Grand Tourismo and of course the Avanti, all great cars. Their pickups make really great hot rods.
I used A 1946 Harley UL Flathead 74” to drag race one of those era was late 1950s.

Here in NZ there are a few of these, I've always liked seeing them. I'm intrigued, what are the other 2 pet cars you've had.
Studebaker was ahead of its time in styling!
Beautiful car and nice shot!
