I couldn't help laughing about your lysol, I wasn't speaking about viruses people get, but viruses computers get I don't want to take the chance in spreading anything to my camera

You are downloading photos and NOT up-loading so you would not get a virus.

The problem seems to be that not all people know how to give criticism without coming off like a jerk. So their comments, while well-meaning, and most likely true, ruffle the feathers of our more delicate members, and then you're off and running.

Even if you say you're 'thick-skinned' and 'can take it', two or three reviews with the words "suck" and "horrible" in them can kinda spoil your day, especially when the image in question is their darling little 4-year old, the favored family pet, or in some cases, a rusty nail in the street.

I see your point about jerks. Suck and horrible is not criticism, it is just being a rude.

I always want constructive criticism when I post on a photo forum, even if I say comment. A photo forum is a place to learn. Why post here just to get a pat on the back. Friends will give you a pat on the back, this is a learning forum. Sure everyone likes nice comments, but.......

I agree with KG about socket damage. I have never pulled the card out of my camera. I have been in the electronic repair business for 39 years and I understand bad connections on circuit boards and sockets.

Would you mind sharing what online backup that is?

It is backing up your data to a central computer at another location. Many folks call it cloud computing.

I use and like:

http://www.carbonite.com

No matter where I go, if I need a file or photo, I can use any computer and download it. This is about as fool proof as you can get for backups.
