I might pay $12.50 for it. Seriously; it's imaginative but I don't see anything special. Not even close.

Sorry, but that is $12.50 more than I'd give... but to each his own!

For Photo sharing, what do others use for distributing pictures to friends and family? Currently I'm using Nikon's Image Space, which I find easy and pretty much straight forward for me and my potential viewers. It allows password protection and downloads. But what it doesn't have is a history on any activity of the number of views generated, except when an individual picture is clicked on for a larger view.
What do others use and what is the features that keep you using it?
Oh - one note, as I tend to spend too much on my "Hobbys", I'll be leaning heavily towards free platforms or methods of photo sharing. Thanks, EvKar

Wow... there many great responses. Thanks for sharing and enlightening me and others.
What I'm learning is that... yes, it is my hobby and to enjoy it, as such. If anyone else gains from it, that is icing on the cake. I'm also noting that I need to "up my game" if I'm going to make this hobby more appealing to others... and that is by putting together albums to give as gifts. I have been thinking about doing this for each Grandkid, as a 16th birthday gift; an album of the pictures I have taken of them as they are growing up during the previous 16 years.
Glad to see that this thread and group discussion has brought back meaning in my hobby; I hope it inspire others in this group... thank you to all you UHHs for your input.

And BTW, we just came back from a family wedding, and, of course, we took some pictures. The relatives in their 60's will want copies of the photos, which we will provide, but the 20 and 30 year old's could care less about them!

Why is that? I shot a wedding for a young couple 2 weeks ago. They had talked to my wife about the need for a photographer to handle family group photos before their wedding. They already booked a Videographer at $1,200 for the event, but didn't line up a photographer for a few still pictures of the family group. Just needing a couple pictures. Once we discussed that I'd be glad to shoot that photo and I'd be glad to handle more of the event (no charge, just a wedding gift), they were very thankful. I ended up shooting the group photo, ceremony, dance and other wedding settings. It was actually kind of fun, as I had no pressure, since was perceived as extra photos. I presented them with the photos via an on-line sharing platform, and I did get a thank you, but no request for a download. Maybe it is still early, as they are now just getting back from their Honeymoon... but I have a suspicion that these pictures will continue to be of no interest to them. Nice to look at, but not save for the future memories.

But, a print can last over 100 years if kept well!

Wholeheartedly agree. It is the way time has evolved. I guess I'll just keep plugging along, enjoying my hobby.
But when asked again at the family reunion, to take the group shots... what to do? Remind the group that no-one desired a copy last reunion, why bother? Maybe they are asking me, just to patronize me. I don't know? Why setup all your lights and equipment, and listen to others as they complain about having to get into position ... knowing very well that no one is going to desire a copy.
Wow, this is turning into a downer of a thread... sorry!
AutoFocus... I followed your flickr link... wow, excellent work. Quality of pictures that I'm trying to achieve.

Sorry if this topic has come up before, but let me stir the pot.

Call me Disappointed…

Been taking pictures for the last 50 years or so, and there was a time that I felt my pictures meant something to someone and that someone was appreciative of receiving them. But is it just me or have any others noticed that people don’t care about the pictures that you’ve taken… it is just your thing?

I enjoy taking pictures at events like Grandkid’s sports, musical, birthday parties; and as I think they are worthy pictures, suitable for someone’s album or wall, I’ll put them on an online sharing website (Nikon Image Space) to distribute them. Via this method, I’m not able to tell if anyone makes the effort to view or download the pictures, so I’ll purposefully set the settings to not allow downloads and I’ll write in the email with the album’s link something to the effect that these are low-resolution pictures for viewing purposes, but should you desire a copy, I will do further post processing and send you a link to an album that has the higher resolution photo and is downloadable. Instead of allowing downloads of the lower resolution pictures in the first place, I handle this extra step, as it allows me to know if anyone really desires a copy or not. And this is where I’m disappointed… none of the family members desire to download any photos. I’ve even taken group pictures at family reunions… and my pictures are good to great… not of National Graphic standards (working on it)… but is it just me or do others feel that people don’t care about quality (printable) photos anymore… or collecting photos for keepsake purposes?

Yes, I know cell phones make everyone feel that they are photographers… but what gives?

Sorry, I meant annoying to your potential 'customer'. I read remove the vignette and watermark earlier, maybe over-reading in that memory. I'd like to see you be successful, but I have only an academic interest in the events.

CHG ... thank you for the clarification. I should of gone to bed and hoped for a clearer thought pattern in the morning.
Thank you all for your responses.

They asked you to remove the watermarks and make some other changes. Don't be annoying and ignore their requests. Either sell (or give) them what was asked, or tell them 'no'.

Whoa, I believe I now know where the U of UHH comes in. Sorry for initiating the conversation by asking questions of you.
The bank's marketing personal HAS NOT asked me to remove the watermark ... I thought I'd reach out to this group for a better understanding of how to respond to them should they ask. I have no problem with giving them the photos freely, as they are allowing me to post them on my Facebook page for marketing; but as I will be giving the rights to the photos to them for free, I thought I'd seek out from UHH on how to handle the Watermark.
Through the variety of answers, I did learn from each of the responses I got, even your earlier response CHG... but sorry that in such questioning, I was perceived as annoying.

Everyone, thanks for your responses. Thanks for your assistance, I gleaned a little insight from each of your replies. It is great to a have a source that is experienced.
What I'm not hearing is ... as I'm not going to charge the bank for the pictures, do I keep a watermark on them; for exposure, should further endeavors present themselves? Also to show ownership. Only remove the watermark if money changes hand... and yes, should that happen, there will be a need for releases to be generated and signed.
Let me know if you have any further thoughts... and again thanks.

I'm not a professional photographer... but I feel I take some good pictures.
The situation that I find myself in is... I run a network cabling company and lately I have been taking pictures of our customer's project sites, with the idea of posting on our Facebook page for marketing purposes. Along with the photos, I'll thank the customer for their business and tag their Facebook page, as well. Trying to let the public know about our services. Before I post the pictures, I submit them to the customer and ask for approval to post. I do this out of respect to the customer's comfort level regarding the social media exposure.
So far, the customers are excited about it, and approval isn't a problem... and I've been told by many of the customers that they are great pictures.
Well, now I have a customer (bank) that likes my pictures (5) and would like a copy of them. I posted them on an On-line sharing format, and made them Non-downloadable and with low resolution... and I also have a watermark on them. Of course I'm flattered, but it bothered me when their marketing personnel wanted to know if I could remove the vignetting effect.
Now the questions... since they are a longtime customer, do I tweak my processing and hand over the pictures in a higher resolution? Do I do this and keep my watermark on or remove it? Or do I do all the post processing only if they are willing to pay for the pictures... and then what does a person charge? I would like the exposure, and think that in the future, photography could be a hobby that could pay for itself. So do I insist that the watermark stays on, unless they are willing to buy my photos.
Your thoughts?

Unfortunately none of that will accomplish what the OP wants done. The Affinity batch process can be run with raw files as the source files however none of the Develop Persona operations (eg. WB) can be incorporated into a macro to apply via batch processing. And since AP discards all Develop Persona operations when the RGB conversion is completed it would be a vain effort even if it were possible.

Huh?

Thanks Gene,

I am thinking about C-One, and during the Jan (I think) Pres. Day sales I will upgrade my systems and this will be helpful. I need more GB's of ram along with a few other things before I buy Capture One. I really need to upgrade to get the performance out of the programs I want to install.

Thanks for your time. It is valued a lot!

Thanks,
Boone.

I have been very pleased with Capture One 20, and yes there are actually several ways of synchronizing one photos adjustments to numerous other photos of your choice. They are introducing C1 21 soon. Should you purchase out right or subscribe (you have a choice)... you'll get C1 20 now, but a free upgrade to C1 21 when it is available.
