Thanks
I wasted a lot of time and phot supplies trying to imitate Saint Adam always looking for that perfect negative that will print on a number 2 using a 35mm Spotmatic. Guess what I was holding my own style and suppressing my creativity until i I took a look at Photoshop Curves and began creating images that the colors were representative of the feeling that I was trying to express, no the โ€œrealโ€ tones that we were told we must have

Neither is right or wrong. My personal feeling...you take pictures with a camera, cell phone, etc. In PP, like you stated, you are 'creating images'. All about preference ๐Ÿ™ƒ

And how many are fully invested in the notion that raw has no value, and really have no clue what "getting it right" in the camera really means, and that SOOC is the only way to shoot and truly reflects a photographer's talent. However, you seem to have a leg up on this. Can you explain what "getting it right in the camera" means? Can you provide an example or two?

I spend a lot of time shooting "impossible" scenes with difficult lighting. Here is an example of how SOOC often doesn't cut it. This just an illustration on exposure and SOOC limitations, taken outside my front door, so I'll save you the time making comments about composition - the composition sucks. Anyway, you have a choice of several images to look at where you can explain exactly which one is the best example of what "getting it right in the camera" is. One has ok sky but awful foreground. The last has a blown out sky and better, but not good foreground. Then there is the last image where I used a raw capture and a little adjustment to make the image.
And how many are fully invested in the notion that... (show quote)

Your last sentence says it. You 'captured a photo' then using adjustments you 'made an image'.

Great capture , nice sequence. Where was this ? I want to go to Conowingo Dam in Maryland to photograph the eagles. I have been reading there is usually a congregation of eagles during this time of the year. Thanks

There is a huge amount of eagles there. The bigger congregation is the multitudes if photographers. Get there early and claim a spot as it fills up very early. Enjoy!

Also one of my top favorites but they are hard to get at times. This one landed on a pond railing I was at. Total shock as it was about 10 feet away!

Age is just a number.

Welcome to the hog! Great fun pic! Especially in these tough times, let loose a little and laugh often!

Why?? This is not a question about photo analysis. It's a question about camera operation. It is in exactly the right forum.

I agree! The actual heading you put it under is a technicality and honestly, picky on others parts. It definitely seems a setting is to blame. I have often inadvertently set something i didn't intend to. Happens to us all.
