I'm certain we all have our favorites; Mine is Zerene Stacker. Easy to use, wonderful support. I've used in in macro for five years.

Ok, I see the difference in technique . I generally have 20 to 50 layers, and Photoshop was unbelievably sluggish. 3-5 layers was ok. And I greatly appreciate the support from Zerene. Plus their tutorials online.
We all have our favorites: Zerene was the one that I found easy to learn, with good support. I believe they have a trial or free to use version.

We all have our favorites, don't we! I use either USPS, or more generally UPS. My UPS driver knows me, I periodically buy him coffee, he feeds my dog cookies, and it has been a good relationship for 25 years. My local FedEx generally can't find my house, or leaves it at the neighbors!
Stopping by the local coffee shop when you see your driver there, and buying a coffee, is better than buying insurance, for me!
If you like a little recent history, North Truro, right by the lighthouse, is the site of a NORAD backup. Built in the 1960's, it was state of the art, swarming with Western Electric and GE engineers. Taken over by some art historical folks now, but neat place. I always hope they open up the site underground. Last time I was there one building was shown that they said was the operations center. Nope, I said, I opened this place up, and take down that piece of plywood, and there are numerous floors below. Nope, they said, nothing there. Not sure why, nothing secret after all these years, but they would not let me look behind the blocked off stairwell!
I used to "recover" numerous electronic devices the IT and Electrical Shop had thrown away. A couple of flushes in distilled water, and slowly bake in an oven at low heat. Convection works best for me. 90% of the time they worked fine. Remember DI water is an excellent insulator. Tantalum capacitors have been made for years under this premise.
Canon MPE-65. Fantastic lens, but not for the faint of heart.

Best macro lens.
MPE-65 Canon - but of course it depends on the insect, the size, and your patience !
I have used Zerene Stacker for 5 years. Good support although not needed much ! I do mostly moss, spiders, lichen, insects and usually stacks of 10-15. The touch up feature was my selling point. Free to try.
Oh, I really agree. My all-time favorite walking about lens is the 135 F2.
I would borrow or rent a couple of the options BEFORE buying. Macro is wonderful stuff, I live with my Canon MPE-65 and 100, but each has its own usage depending on the subject.
I have been a long time fan of Zerene. But my subjects are usually very small, insects, moss, leafminers, etc. I routinely take 5-15 shots, handheld, with a Canon MPE-65 lens.

I guess Wal-Mart sucks on-line just like they do in brick and mortor…Just my valued opinion of Wal-mart.
It is the FIRST place I go these days, Walmart Online. They have ten times the variety of the stores, ship for free to my local Walmart, and a great return policy. Sure, I use B&H like may, but other than specialized stuff, Walmart first for me.
Oh, that's a sweet shot. Nicely done !
