I have been reading up on focus stacking and am looking forward to trying it. This is an amazing example of why! Can you explain what "micro-steps" are? I am assuming it is the slight change in focus but am curious on the 90 shots and 25 mirco-steps. Thank you in advance, and again....WOW!

Ricardo00 yes you are correct. We are only looking at live-a-boards, but there are many out there and while they look amazing on the web-site, my question is for those that have made the trip and what their experience was. We have dove on live-a-boards in different locations and there are some big differences what they say they offer, and what reality is.

Aloho! I have been researching different trip venues to the Galapagos. I am looking for a combo SCUBA and land photo based trip. There are many companies out there, however I am looking for more word-of-mouth reviews from those that have been there and done it. It is our trip of a lifetime, and we want to make sure we are prepared and get the best of both worlds (under and over water). I would love to hear your experiences if you have made this trip and any recommendations on what company to book with, length of stay, and do not miss photo ops.

Mahalo in advance.

Aloha Matt, I recently bought the Ruggard 80L as I live in Hawaii where it is very humid. I was here about 3 years before buying it, and could feel some resistance in my lens focus, almost a sticky feeling so I bought the cabinet since it persisted even after cleaning. There are other cabinets out there, just google it and lots will come up. I choose the Ruggard since B&H had it on special and the reviews were very good.

Aloha! I have finally got a shot that is worthy for print. But have tried a local print place and the quality and color don't do the picture justice. Can anyone recommend an online place to get large professional metal prints? I am in Hawaii so they have to be able to ship here.

I have the same camera, after upgrading from the D810. I find that no matter what I am doing, this lens is my favorite. Even when I am shooting zoom or macro, I bring it along because you never know what else you will find to shoot. I never leave home without it. And if I'm not sure what I will be shooting on a walk-about - it is my go-to lens all the time.

Aloha!
I live on Maui and have had the pleasure of photographing Haleakala Sunrise a number of times. As with any natural occurrence, you never know what you will get till you get there. Some mornings there are no clouds, and other times the blanket of clouds lays right below the summit, giving you a ethereal experience. If you are serious about getting a good shot, you may need to go more than once. Regardless, we take all our visiting family and friends, and no one has ever been disappointed. The best place can be debated, but everyone is correct in saying get up early to get a good spot. Plan on being there by 3-3:30, and bring lots of blankets and warm clothes. We wear our ski clothes and are toasty warm. As for filter or no filter, the most beautiful time is right before and when the sun just starts to peak its way over the clouds. Once it gets above the clouds, you may want a ND filter or just keep adjusting shutter speeds. It gets bright very fast. I tend to like to keep adjusting my shutter so not to miss a shot, but everyone has their own method. Personally I like to hike to the very top peak, right next to the visitor center. It is usually not as crowded, but bring a torch to see your footing.

I recently upgraded from the 810 to 850, and have found out that PS and LR do not support RAW files from the 850 yet. Are there any other methods that I can use that do not lose the data? I have the DSC converter program, but is does not seem to deliver the great detail that I am use to. Am I just fooling myself? Are there any other programs that I can use? It is very frustrating to be paying for PS and LR and not be able to use them the way it was designed.
