[quote=Soul Dr.]Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to my inquiry about Easy Canvas Prints.
I will probably give them a try, since the email they sent me has 80% off on their supposedly regular prices.

No experience with ECP. However I’ve used Canvas on Demand for a few years. If you’re not happy with your results give them a try. They aren’t cheap however they regularly have offers of 65% off and I like the quality.

I[quote=current]I recommend visiting Zion National Park. It’s a busy place and parking can be at a premium at certain locations however worth a wait at the side of the road until one comes available. A short hike took me to the banks of the Virgin River at Canyon

I would think with kids back at school that between now and the arrival of snow would be a good time.

Colour is natural and alive. B&W photos are flat and dull to my eyes. To each their own but what is the attraction to B&W? Just curious.

We are fortunate to have the option of color and black and white. Both have their fortes. I take raw color images and convert them to black and white to challenge my artistic bent. I revel in creating an image without the distraction of color. When I take a picture it’s about content not color. Often when we look at color images what’s impressive is the color, not content, especially when they are over edited to magnify artificial color. The absence of color, encourages me to look for unique subject matter, when effective in black and white, is very satisfying.
Before I take the shot I visualize it in b/w knowing there is a place for both- some shots don’t work in black and white. Personally learning to take effective images in black and white have made me a better photographer.

Hi All.
Is a tripod usable on a moving ship or a stationary one with engines running? If so: Should I have IS (Canon) on or off? Thanks in advance for advice.

Take a tripod! There will be times, if not on the boat, off the boat where it will be an asset.
Image Stabilization (and vibration reduction) lenses look for vibrations in your camera in order to reduce it – however if they don’t find any (like when you are using a Tripod) they actually can cause it – and as a result actually cause camera shake.

If the foreground and background were cropped out it would have a cool abstract effect.

All replies are seen by all, whether you do a Quick Reply or Reply or Quote Reply.

The differences are subtle in each form of reply. As noted already, Quote Reply dynamically includes a reference to the text / member to which your reply is directed. This is useful and many times required where there's a lot of discussion. But, not every response requires a specific 'direction' for the reply, such as this one. The Reply option lets you skip the quote while still being able to <Preview> your response and to add attachments, if needed. Quick Reply does not have an option for attachments nor a preview. But, you can <edit> any form of reply after posting for about 45-minutes and the end result is the same regardless of which form of reply you used.

The 'quote reply' includes the post you are replying to but does not change who sees your reply, as I understand it.

That’s what I was hoping. I think the best thing to do is always use the Quote reply or is it inappropriate at certain times?

Question:
When I obtain numerous replies to my post is the “reply” at the bottom of the list seen by all and the “quote reply” just by the specific person’s reply. Not sure if I’m asking this correctly. I want my reply to be seen by all that replied however sometimes I’d like to reply to a specific person with my quote so that there is no confusion as to the post I am referencing.

Thanks to all those who gave me input on where to take pictures while in Italy. The I formation was invaluable. Here are two images; the first taken in Florence at sunset and the second in Rome.

Hello,

I am planning a trip of a lifetime to Alaska in June. It will mostly be for birdwatching, but I have a feeling if I never saw a single bird the whole trip there would be plenty to photograph in landscapes. Part of the time I'll be on my own with a rental car, part of the time I'll be with a birding group with its own transportation.

I'm trying to decide whether to bring 2 DSLRs, my D500 with my Tamron 150-600 and my Sony a77with an 18-135. I prefer to shoot RAW/NEF so have already decided my phone camera or a bridge camera would not suffice for what I imagine will be amazing landscapes with a lot of high contrast. If I took only one camera I have a Nikon 18-55 and a Nikon 70-300 from an older DSLR purchase. I hope this makes sense. I'm confusing myself just typing it out....

Anyway, I'm trying to decided whether to take two cameras and not have to change lenses, or just bring the D500 with 2 or 3 lenses.

What do you think? Thanks very much in advance.

Ann

I just got back from a week long trip to Europe and took one camera - Canon 5d Mark lll, not light - and two lenses. I walked all day every day and can’t imagine having lugged two cameras.
