You can only see part of the Milky Way because of the time of year and your location on the planet. You should probably do some research for your area to find out when or IF you can see the whole galaxy.

I'm seeing some sort of shadow on your photo around the different light levels, which usually happens from too much post-processing.

As a Nikon user I have seen similar results due to using auto focus where the camera determines the point of focus which is usually what is closest to the camera, however if you switch to single point af the camera will auto focus on the single point of your choice which should be the one in the center for best results as it is the most sensitive. Just a suggestion.

Actually, Autofocus is designed to determine the focus-point based on what is brightest in the frame, which in this case is the house.. and it's in really sharp focus, so the auto is doing it's job. This has been a big point of discussion among dark-skined people who say that camera makers are racist because they don't focus on their dark skin. (Which is not my opinion, just some discussions I've come across)
She needs to use the camera's spot-focus instead of the auto-focus to avoid this issue in the future.

I need to take pictures of my photos that are in frames with glass to post on etsy.com. My pictures are of very, very bad quality. Please respond by private message. The last time I was on the forum I took a beating for not knowing how to use my camera. I took the pictures in manual with my Nikon D80 at 1600 ISO and everything was in the center on the scale. Still doesn't work for me. Visit me at Harris Creative Design in the next few days. I'm setting up our shop ASAP.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry you had a bad experience on UHH previously but I am not interested in sending private messages.

I don't understand why you need to take photos of photos, under glass or not. Why not take them out of the frame and scan them? If you don't own a scanner, any number of copy places can do it for a fee.

WOW!! That is a gorgeous shot

Did you purposely set your camera for the black background or was it p/p in or did you set up a black background on a flower that was frequently visited??

Are you going to put it on your wall?

The hands of a Korean war Veteran friend.

Wow, very nice! If his face has as much character as his hands, then you need to talk him into posing for you even more!

Now you have those memories to pass on to your children and Grandchilden. So many of the young people today have absolutely no knowledge, and with some unfortunately no interest in their family history.

Actually, no it's not something for me to pass down. Due to an accident when I was 17, I can't have kids. Although, I do hope my Niece and Nephew appreciate it when they are older.

That is certainly a different coloration than I am used to seeing.

Yours is about twice the age as the one I shot, plus they are in different climates, you're in dry/desert, and mine was in the mountains.

Cool shot BTW, it looks like you're right on top of it!

I bet it was interesting to sit and talk with your Grandfather, know he had some stories to relate.

He had about 2 1/5, 1-gallon plastic bags full of metals. He would tell my sister and I to pick one of the metals out, and he'd tell the story behind it. Every once in a while we would pick one out, and he would tell us to pick a different one... When I acquired his photos after he died, I understand why, several rolls are photos with hills of bodies stacked like cord-wood, and mass graves with people 'tending' them with limestone and shovels.

These photos were taken by my Grandfather, Curtis Hendrick, around 1951 in Japan and Korea. He flew both Bombers and medivac, He was also assigned special passengers because he was a talented pilot.
