You might consider renting a car and driving out to El Yunque National Forest. Driving there is exactly like driving here, and it's likely to be less expensive than renting a car with a guide driving it.

Thanks for looking.

Take a look at this map.

http://xjubier.free.fr/en/site_pages/solar_eclipses/TSE_2024_GoogleMapFull.html?Lat=42.87178&Lng=-78.85601&Elv=179.0&Zoom=8&LC=1

Click anywhere on the map and a detail window will pop up showing exact times for that particular location.

I'll be watching it in Irving, Texas.

Here is a great source of info for the upcoming event.
Much data and an animated map of the path across the continent.
Certainly worth the watch.

Total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024 over Mexico, the USA, and Canada

That's a very good site regarding the April eclipse. Here's another one worth looking at:

http://xjubier.free.fr/en/site_pages/solar_eclipses/TSE_2024_GoogleMapFull.html?Lat=32.79091&Lng=-96.95168&Elv=138.0&Zoom=8&LC=1

It's interactive. You can zoom in and out on the map, and wherever you click on the map a popup will show you detailed eclipse data for that specific location. I'll be observing from Irving, TX.

I got a similar shot last June on the way back to Galveston. We were close to the Tortugas.

You seem to be making it more complicated than need be.

Then why does it take so long for the shadows on the ground from objects to move?

At my location the Sun rises in the East at 7:14am and sets in the West 10 hours 59 minuts later. Those complicated shadows move at exactly the same speed.

I see you live in PA. You will have only seconds for a partial not total eclipse. The shadow is moving at 1,678 mph. Best results for totality will be speed bracketing starting at 1 second moving to 1/1000th using a fixed aperture...you see, it really is rocket science.

It depends on where in Pennsylvania you are... Observers in Erie, PA will see totality.

http://xjubier.free.fr/en/site_pages/solar_eclipses/TSE_2024_GoogleMapFull.html?Lat=42.13090&Lng=-80.12805&Elv=182.0&Zoom=7&LC=1

Also, YOU are moving at close to the same speed as the shadow. Relative to an observer the shadow is moving much slower, and an eclipse may be shot at a MUCH slower speed than 1/1000 sec. Think of looking at the Sun. Does it appear to be moving across the sky at 1,678 MPH? With the right filter, you could take a picture of it at 1/30 sec. or less.

I've been using NordVPN for several years, and have been pleased with their service.

NordVPN is based and operates under the jurisdiction of Panama. There is no mandatory data retention law in Panama, so they do not need to store logs which is perfect for a VPN provider. Contrary to foathog's opinion, that is a GOOD thing! That was probably the biggest reason I switched to NORD.

I had occasion to go to China a couple times in the recent past, and successfully used NORD to get around the Chinese firewall

I recently bought a Oyen Digital 8TB U32 Shadow from B&H and have been quite pleased with it.

They come in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB.

Sure. Started with IBM in 1964/65 on the 360 system

Me too. If I recall correctly, that is a 360 model 30. It had up to 64K of core storage LOL

I serviced 360 models 30, 40, and 44, and all the peripherals in your picture. Later I serviced various model 370's, 4331, 4341. Then I switched from hardware to software as a PSR. The last 20 years I spent with IBM in marketing as a systems engineer specializing in DOS/VSE and VM operating systems. The last application programs I focused on were SQL relational database, CADAM, and CATIA.

Retired after 30 years Sept 1966.

I wonder how many people have looked at that picture of The Beatles walking across the intersection, and failed to notice that McCartney is wearing a suit and is barefooted LOL
