Hi there and compliments of the season to you all.

Now that we're into a new year I expect to see more and more use of "AI" in many walks of life. I'm something of a newbie in all of this but I'm trying to understand what it's all about and how best to use it to help me save time or do things better (whatever they may be).

So I'm asking my fellow UH members how they are using this new technology or if they plan to use it in future. As for me here are my current areas of application:

1. Some aspects of photography editing as new processing options (based on AI) are being introduced in Photoshop and Luminar Neo for example.

2. I've added a "chatbot" to my website to interact with my site visitors whilst I'm not available - so far this is proving more valuable than I expected - I'm getting new clients AND my existing clients are engaging too.

3. I'm using tools like ChatGPT to extract information from my website and to produce a range of advertising guidance that I might consider to attract more clients. The trick again here is trying to "engineer" the prompts to provide the desired outcome (so far I've tried hundreds and I'm building quite a collection)

So far I've not found a practical use case for image generation (such as DALL-E and Midjourney)

Any and all advice (and of course comments) welcome.

Wishing you all a safe and happy 2024

James

By adding a simple AI tool to my photography website my business has improved by some margin. Just look at these stats to see how crazy AI is taking off. It’s going to be hard to ignore.

I've tried to come up with a valid reason to avoid health screening but so far I have failed - so, as I get older, I just say "bring it on" - if anyone can provide a reason I can use please let me know?

Crikey! - I'm pre-Windows. My first computer was an Olivetti M? I can't remember - it was but like a tank and came with PC-DOS which I grew up with and managed to write usable programs in power BASIC - which I think I could compile into an EXE. Oh the the days of config.sys and autoexec.bat. Does anyone remember edlin? Jeez

Guys, guys - what's going on? I posted an interesting puzzle (as I do from time to time) and it gets 90% great reactions from members who enter into the spirit of the thing and have ago. Now that's great and why not, win or lose who cares? it's not a competition - it's just a puzzle I share for your enjoyment - it's just a bit of fun and because I enjoyed the puzzle I decided to share it with my fellow site members. Because I often don't get it right first time I am reminded of my days in school and university (a long time ago) and often surprise myself either by getting it right or reminding me where I might have gone wrong. Adults often scan a page and don't look in detail as a child might so we often assume and miss the detail - this post received a lot of interest so I'm happy. Merry Christmas or/and Compliments of the Season.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR HAVING A GO! - sadly some gave out the method but hey ho, that's life. THE CORRECT ANSWER IS...............19
(The order of operations is part of the key so the multiplication is the first bit to do on the answer final line) - then you have to note that the value of the table is the number of legs so tables with 4 legs = 4, table (in final row has 3 legs so = 3). Then the clock's value changes its value to equal the time shown (=5 on last row). If it's of any consolation it's easy to miss (at first sight) the table legs and the clock time.

Hi there puzzlers - have a go at this one - suggest an answer but DON'T give your method (I want to keep people guessing for a bit) - I'll post the solution in a few days time!

Enjoy
