DO NOT forget a proper solar filter. Otherwise, you will ruin your sensor.
And your eyes if you are not careful.
As someone above said, I have used and like Baader solar film. You can buy it from several astronomical online stores. You can go to Baader direct as well. I bought the film and then made my own filter using glued together strips of card board to fit around the lens. Attached is a photo I took in June 5, 2012 of the Venus transit. The camera was a Canon Rebel XTi, Canon 75-300 lens (at 300mm) with a off brand 2x teleconverter.
Oh, what do wives know!? Please don’t show this post to my wife 🥸
Thanks! I notice the gulls coming close the day before but busy with photographing sunrise. I took some time to keep an eye on the birds the next day.
I was photographing the sunrise at Bethany Beach, DE. The birds are quite active at dawn. The gulls were fairly close and I caught this guy with my Canon 90D and Canon 8-135 lens.
Thanks all. The old adage that the best camera for a photo is the one you have with you.
This is one of my best and favorite photos. I took this on October 31, 2015 using a Nikon 610. I was fortunate with the time of day and weather.
Beset is if you are tracking Mars. If not you probably won’t get much. If you have a tracking mount then you need to take a bunch of images and then use a stacking software to combine to get a sharp but small image.
Welcome. I am a Canon photographer as well. I have a 90D and a M50 which I use mainly for travel. I like to shoot landscapes wildlife and dawn and sunset skies.
We had a guy who gave a presentation at our camera club talking about “images “ for competition in which he took a basic photo then added fog and a bird. He considered it like painting. I do not like that. I think it is ok to use processing on an image but added all that extra stuff, not for me.
Great photos. I really like the second photo looking through the window. I am going to use it as inspiration for a painting.
I did the inland waterway
cruise last June. It was great. I took both my Canon 90D and M50 plus lenses. I am glad I did. Take your Nikon. Also make sure to take a travel tripod, you will want it. Make sure you have a long lens to capture wildlife especially eagles and whales.
Here are mine. The first three were taken at Ocean City, MD, November 2022. The last two were taken at the Florida Botanical Gardens, near St. Petersburg Florida, Mach 2023.
