I traveled all over Europe in the late 60's with my Pentax 35mm camera. All I had was individual lenses and the wide angle
lens was a 28mm. It did the job quite well, I was able to take photos of large buildings even in crowded places. The only thing
was sometimes I got distortions. I took a picture of the leaning tower of Pisa, when I got my prints back all the buildings around
it was leaning also.

I remember visiting Acadia, very beautiful park. We spent 3 days there. I remember talking my wife into hiking a trail
I looked at a map and said it was only a mile or so. We must have gotten on a wrong fork, I think we walked over
5 miles before we got back. That was about 10 years ago and she still hasn't let me forget it.

I have been to Yellowstone several times. The first time I got a cabin in the middle of the park. A couple of years ago I went again and tried to get a room
inside the park, I tried in January but everything was full. We stayed in West Yellowstone at a hotel called Three Bear Lodge. The rooms were great and the
lodge was so close to the park entrance we could have walked there.

Every time I drove around the two loop roads. There are many places to park and take photos. If you don't mind hiking you can hike to many places to take
good pics. There have been several that recommended you talk to a ranger. That is a wonderful idea, I always do that. If you want a challenging hike take
the Uncle Toms Trail. It is named after a man who would take people there. The trail is about 1/2 mile with around 100 steps down. It is about 5 miles and
500 steps back up. But the walk is worth the effort.

Great pics. We have visited that area several times. Acadia National Park is one of our favorites.

I bought my first Pentax film camera in the mid 60's and carried it all over Europe when I was stationed there in the Air Force. I hand carried it
home because I didn't trust it to my shipped baggage. I used it until the late 1990's. I bought a Pentax K2000 and used it for several years
and took some great pictures. I did change to a Nikon because I could get a 300mm lens. The camera still works great so I gave it to my
grandson to use in a school photography class. Pentax makes great cameras.

Hello, this is the first time to post a picture on UHH. These pictures were taken with my new Nikon D5600 while I was hiking this fall.
The pictures were taken in Raw, I have only taken jpg before, I think these came out better.

Thanks for all the good advice. Like I said yesterday I'm just exploring my options. My 300mm is so much superior
to the 200mm on my Pentax K2000. I may decide not to buy anything right now. Also, a friend of mine who has had
a world more experience with digital than I have has suggested that since Amazon has such a good return policy I
might order a teleconverter from them and if it doesn't work or I don't like it I can send it back.

Sorry I should have included more info about my 300 lens, but my chat was pretty long
and I didn't want to make it longer. It is a Nikon AF-PNikor 70-300mm1:4.6-6.3ED.

I have been taking pictures since the 60's my first good camera was a Pentax 35mm. I used it all over Europe when I
was in the Air Force. I bought a 2x extender to help my 105mm lens bring things a little close. I actually used it more for
a close up lens, I thought it worked better for that. About 10 years ago I upgraded to a Pentax K2000. I was pretty happy
with that but I thought my old 35mm actually did a better job. About 3 weeks ago I upgraded again to a Nikon D5600
and love this camera, the pictures are great. I travel out west frequently and would like to have a telephoto lens of
about 500 - 600mm. They are pretty pricy $1300 - 3000. I'm not a professional and take pictures as a hobby. I have
been looking at teleconverters. I see that Nikon has a Nikon AFN-S Teleconverter TC-14E III 1.4. That would bring my
300mm to the equivalent of 420mm. Has anyone used a teleconverter? My main problem with my old 2x was that things
were a little grainy. Right now I'm just investigating my options. I would appreciate any feedback before I go further
with this. Thanks
