Been an interesting few years subscribing to UHH but its become far too vitriolic with members criticizing posts quite unhelpfully simply to boost their own over inflated egos. Suppose its only to be expected though in a country where children have the Constitutional Right to take guns to school to k**l their teacher and other pupils! Yes and elect a criminal con merchant as President.

Keep well those who do not fit this profile.

Cheers JohnR

I really won't miss this guy. Have a great life, John.

What are the most valuable photography things you have learned on YouTube? I use YouTube a lot for learning Adobe software.

The video that saved me the most money was fixing a Samsung refrigerator that had a defrost cycle drain that would freeze up, fill with water and ruin the vegetables.

I don't know about the rest of you but I have learned a lot of things from YouTube. Sometimes you have to watch several postings to get the information you want. Not just photography but auto repair, small engines and many other subjects. Some folks were born experts but I wasn't one of them. I am glad there is a YouTube.

OK, so I click on "Home" in the upper left hand corner to view "Main Photography Discussion" (as was recommended) for today, 9-27-23. I go down the list and in the first column I notice a comment from Gene51 (whatever happened to him anyway?) and when I checked the date it was May 1, '21. Looking further: Jun 10, '18

I know many here like the changes (hard to tell if I'm in the majority or minority from what I've been reading), I don't. At 75, I'm not a big fan of changes. I'm trying, but I don't see the benefits of these changes. How is it bringing the forum up to date? Can someone enlighten me (sans sarcasm) please?
Seeing 5 year old responses in today's Main Photography Discussion makes no sense to me. I haven't even checked my other favorite topics. I'm viewing less often because of these hiccups. I'm not threatening to leave the column, because let's face it who would give a hoot?! I'm just saying that I miss the "good 'ole UHH". Maybe I'll get a dog to occupy my time.
OK, so I click on "Home" in the upper le... (show quote)

I agree, I was just thinking the same thing. I am not much for changes either. I liked things the way they they were. Maybe we will get used to it. I don't know.

Just beautiful! We were in Costa Rica in 2015 on the west coast near El Jobo Beach. I don't think I have ever seen more beautiful sunsets in my life. I want to go back one day. Pura Vida.

Beautiful shots of a beautiful car. I had a '67 Corvette. Mine was also a coupe, green with a white stinger, side pipes, 427 435 HP, stick. On another post, I related why, at the time, it was probably the most inappropriate car I could have owned. If you had the 435 HP engine, you could not have AC. Living in Florida, in the Summer, the car was intolerable. My youthful hubris overwhelmed my common sense when I bought it.

I enjoy your car shots.

I had the same car, green with white stinger only it was a convertible. I had no air and lived in Austin Texas. I wish I had that car back now.

I would surely recommend buying a new pack if that is possible. Can you buy a new OEM or even third party battery pack for the Canon F1 motor drive? In fact buying a non working pack to rebuild is hard enough.
The F1 was in the 70's and even the 90's Nikon F5 it's impossible to buy the MN-30 NiCad pack for it.

I understand now, I should have realized that. In such a case, I would do like you and try to rebuild it also. Good luck with it.

This Canon Ni-Cd Pack FN no longer holds a charge. The high speed one does, so the charger is still good. On the F-1 Facebook group it was suggested that Batteries Plus can rebuild it. Has anyone had this done or are there other recommendations/suggestions? I have a PhD in history which means I have no discernible skills to do this myself, probably!

I have a degree in electronics and have done this sort of thing all my life. When my battery packs get to where they no longer hold a charge, I will buy a new one. You should be able to open up the battery pack with a lot of time and patients and you might find the right size and voltage battery and you can solder them in series and maybe have a battery that will work and hold a charge. You might be able to get the battery back together so it will fit in your camera. With all the time you spent and the cost of the new batters, would you really want to use it in a nice camera? Best bet is just to bite the bullet and buy a new battery. Just my opinion.

On my R6, Canon recommended to attach the adapter to the lens first, then to the camera. I'm not sure why, but there must be a reason.

I,m sure that I tried that but I traded the lens in for a different lens yesterday. When Rokinon said it wouldn't work with my cameras, there was no need to keep it. Thanks
