I have been to Africa several times. I have the mirrorless R5 combo. With what you have I would;d go with the
Tamron 150-600 as you need the versatility. 500 prime would be of if you have something like a 70-200 for the closer stuff as everything is not always a bit away when the smaller lens is handy. Hopeful you have two cameras so you don't have to change lenses in the field as it is dusty there. You also don't need to worry about weight if you are travelling in a safari vehicle as they have bean bags to rest your outfit on.

Wow what a difference. I have Topaz and need to watch the video because I don't think I am using the right settings.

I sometimes travel to a remote cabin in the cariboo of British Columbia,Canada. There is no electricity or cel service.
I am sometimes there for 5-6 days and am shooting every day. I have several batteries but sometimes run out and need to have the ability to charge on some sort of a remote system. I have a charger in my vehicle but it needs to be running to charge. Anyone with any ideas or experience would be appreciated. As I live in Canada, some U>S> products that may include some sort of battery are not available for shipping

I would be interested in you sending me information where I could get an external power park when electricity is unavailable in the back country

Where did you get your external power pack. I often go to a cabin in the woods where there is no electricity and need to charge camera batteries.

Are there any members out there with the Canon R5. I am wondering if you have downloaded the latest firmware updates and if it has created any problems for you.

I am having a problem with Lightroom Classic. It was working no problem and then the next day I get "Adobe can't verify your subscription. It says you may not be connected to the internet . I have checked and am connected. There are some troubleshooting directions but I can't get anything to work. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they fixed it. Frustrating because I am on a trip and LRCC won't work. Also I can't find a 1-800- number for Adobe which is also frustrating. Any help is appreciated.

I have a friend who has an R6 and uses the Tamron 150-600mm G2 and is having the same problem you describe with the focus. She also has the tap in console and it has not corrected the problem. Perhaps Tamron has an answer as you don't seem to be the only one with that combo who is having a problem.

I am an older guy(78) and recently purchases a R5 with the RF 100-500mm lens. Previously I was using a Canon Mark4 with a Tamron 150-600 lens for wildlife.. Due to the weight I had to use a tripod to get decent photos. With the new combo which I have used for 3wks I no longer have to use a tripod as this combo is much lighter and is giving me really good results. I know you said you had some disability but I highly recommend the R5 with the 100-500 combination.

I have heard some negative comments about the R5 and how it works in Lightroom CC. Does anyone out there have any comments regarding this. I have not been able to try this out so any comments would be welcome.

Most of the safari vehicles provide bean bags.

I have been to Africa several times and weight is definitely a problem especially on the smaller airlines. If possible take two bodies as it is dangerous because of dust and wind to change your lens in the field. If you are travelling in a safari van you won't need a tripod. Monopod if weight allows for the times you may be on foot. You definitely need a long lens, 70-200 and a landscape lens. The people are friendly, the landscapes are awesome, and the wildlife is amazing.

Thanks for putting up the photos. They are good. I have a R5 on order and contemplating the 100-500 so glad to see what it can do.

I have a Canon R5 on order and am still contemplating ordering the 100-500Rf lens. I would be interested in feed back from anyone who has used the R5 and 100-500Rf combination.
