Back to the original post. If shooting a waterfall in daylight, Why not just mount the camera on a tripod and take a series of photos. Then stack the photos in post processing. You get the same effect with the silky water and a high megapixel photo for more detail.

Thanks. I’ll give it a try!

how long ? do you think the exposures will be

Not long…anywhere from 1 to 60 seconds depending on the falls intensity. I’ll use CP on all photos and add nd filters filters as needed.

Come on. This is 21st century, market-leading EOS technology. It's been well over a decade of market leadership from Canon in the area of Image Stabilization. This leading Canon IS technology includes the 'smarts' to sense a stable tripod platform and not cause any problem. You're more likely to forget to turn IS back on than it will impact your long-exposure images. Passing around outdated suggestions and non-Canon best practices is what makes the internet such a cesspool.

Thanks Paul. I’ll heed your advice.

I am shooting some long exposure waterfalls this week and wondering whether I should turn off IS on my canon RF lens (using r6). Thanks.

Thanks for all of your input and suggestions. I decided to keep the plug-ins and add Photo AI. Thanks again.

If those programs are the old standards, not the AI versions, you can delete them.

If they are the AI versions, then I would leave those stand-alone programs on your system. Topaz Photo AI does a wonderful job, but those specialized Topaz AI programs do their specific task a bit better. I have all the Topaz photo programs, including Photo AI, and use them all, depending on my needs at the time.

Thanks. I may forgo buying photo AI after all. seems like a duplication of services

Is it advisable to uninstall Sharpen and Denoise if you have Photo AI? I am trying to free up memory on my computer and removing some unneeded plug-ins will help. I haven’t added Photo AI yet and hoping you can give me some guidance on this. Thanks.

Can you provide a little more detail about how the "moves" were done?

"in library mode, it appears unedited. When I switch to develop mode, it appears with complete edits."

In the Library mode you are looking at "previews", not actually the image itself. You may need to update the previews. Select the wedding photos, then in the Library mode, pick Previews from the Library drop down menu and pick one.

I can't verify this will work because I've never seen it on my equipment.

Thank You! That did the trick. I instructed LRC to build standard previews for all the wedding photos. The edits are back. Thanks again!

Sounds like you've inadvertently left a batch edit instruction in place. Check to see if you've left an "Apply settings on import" box checked.

The photos were moved to an external hard drive (fully recognized by LRC) after editing last year. I moved them back into Lightroom proper this week to speed up editing and the album creation process.

No settings checked on import box. Thanks.

Ok, here’s one for of our LRC experts….I shot and edited wedding photos for my niece last year. She recently asked for my help in creating a wedding album. While culling photos in LRC, something weird happened. When I look at a photo in library mode, it appears unedited. When I switch to develop mode, it appears with complete edits. It’s happening with virtually every photo whether they are copies, imbedded previews or the actual raw photo. I am perplexed. I am also wondering if I choose to place a photo in a collection for later use whether I am culling unedited or edited photos. Thanks.

We live in Bryson City, NC, so I'm a little predjudiced towards "the quiet side" of the Smokies. I can only reinforce what others have said about the crowds that time of year. Get there early. There are so many places, but on the TN side, I love Cades Cove ( I think this is closed to vehicles Wed mornings, but check with visitor center) and also the Greenbrier area. The TN/NC border has Newfound Gap, the overlooks close to the top on both sides, and Clingmans Dome. I enjoy closing out an evening at the Clingmans Dome parking lot. Parking will be an issue in all of those areas, but take your time and enjoy. In NC, the Deep Creek Trail near Bryson City offers a nice 2.4 mile, 3 waterfall loop. Easy walking on an old road bed. As mentioned Soco Falls is beautiful, but to get a picture like the one shown, you have to go down some pretty steep and slick rocks and there is very limited parking along Highway 19. Any section of the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP), including Waterrock Knob, has great views. I'll be glad to answer any other questions you might have. Enjoy and come back again!
I forgot to mention the wonderful Cherokee Museum and several shots with authentic Cherokee crafts and art. Also, there should be a lot of elk around the Oconaluftee Vistor Center and now often in Cherokee.

What you might want to do today is join two Facebook groups that I belong to that focus on Photography in the Blue Ridge, you will see images of Northern GA, NC, and TN. Most photographers will note where the image was taken and you will see a lot taken from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Their images will not only inspire you but will give you clues on composition as well as focal lengths that produce the best results.

Both those groups have pro's that contribute and their work is awesome.

If you visit Cade's Cove you will be close to the parkway. You may as well get on the Parkway and head towards Ashville. Not to far in you will come to Hwy 19 near Cherokee NC and with a very short drive you will arrive at Soco Falls, a Falls I have yet to visit but really want to. As you travel the parkway you will pass several overlooks many of which will offer great photo ops. At mile mark 451 you will come to Waterrock Overlook which offers great opportunities for both sunrise and sunset shots. If you make it all the way down to the Brevard area you will have passed several great photo ops, in the Brevard area you will come to Hwy 276, if you head south on 276 you will come to both Sliding Rock and Looking Glass falls. Both of these falls are very close to the road but a steep climb down, the good news is that Looking glass has concrete steps leading all the way down to a low observation deck. But to get great photos of any waterfall you will have to actually get down to the river bed and probably get your feet wet. Something to think about as you plan your trip.

Obviously the image below of Soco Falls is not mine, I pulled it from the web so you could see it.

I have not researched TN but I am sure that there are plenty of waterfalls and a few Grist Mills that you can find by spending a little time on the internet. Anyway, good luck on your trip and for sure don't miss the Parkway.

Love the Smokies. Cades Cove is a must, but go very early to get in line, like 4:30-5am. Count on 2 hours drive once you’re in.
Clingman’s Dome and Newfound Gap provide excellent photo ops. Especially sunrise from the parking lot at Clingman.

Thank you. Might be tough to convince my wife about a 4:30am start time.🙄
