this flag will be flown at our veteran park on memorial day, the photo is a trial run to see if the flag pole could handle the large flag. The flag was presented to the mother, (a Gold Star Mother) of the soldier that was killed in action on May 31, 1945 by a sniper on a battlefield on the island of Okinawa in the Pacific Theater of World War Two. The soldier was temporarily interred in Okinawa until 1947, when his earthly remains were relocated to our small town cemetery.

the flag has a small blue tag with numbers stapled to it. Does anyone know what the blue tag would be for?

THANK YOU ALL, for the prayers and kind words. It was definitely an eye opening reminder of how precious our loved ones are. The children will start counseling tomorrow, remotely. The 8 year old boy is special needs and is having difficulties expressing his emotions, in a good manner, so there are a lot of cuss words, hating everyone and everything, not sleeping, hitting, etc. The 10 year old girl is still on a high of being the Hero, hopefully she doesn't crash too hard when that ends. GOD BLESS TO ALL

I have not been on this site since January 19th, on the morning of January 20th we almost lost 6 members of our family, 4 to a fire and 2 to a vehicle accident.
Our 10 year old granddaughter and family adopted a kitten (SAGE) on Christmas eve.
On January 20th Sage kept clawing and swatting my granddaughters face at 5:30 in the morning, our granddaughter woke up and was VERY hot, she got down from her loft bed, opened her door and got some cool air, then she went back to bed, turned a fan on and played on her phone, around 6:20 it smelt like pizza burning, so she got up again, opened and looked out her door to see why there was pizza burning and saw flames on a chair in the far family room. She woke up her step-dad, mom, and younger brother and they escaped from the tragic fire of their home. they were within seconds of perishing in the fire. When the front door was opened the fire basically exploded and the windows blew out. Luckily the keys were in the vehicles and so they had a place to escape to and get away from the house.
The fire was electrical, from by the meter and traveled up the wall and was mainly in the attic, the smoke alarms did not go off in time because the fire was in the attic.
They lost everything, but what they had on, which was shorts and t shirts, no socks, shoes, coats, etc. A local organization in a town nearby that has a store type place opened up (while the fire was still being fought) and family members took the children to that town and got bags and bags of everything all 4 of them needed.

Sage and 2 hamsters did not survive the fire. 2 dogs and a cat survived. They are all living at our house for now.
We had a burial in our pet cemetery at our farmstead for Hero Sage on the 24th, there were about 40 people that attended!

Our fire department and the other small town fire department are all volunteers, the response from both departments was phenomenal. It was about 15 degrees that morning and strong winds, they tried to save the house but just couldn't.

Over a week later a TV station did a story on the fire (first media that even reported there was a fire, the reporter saw a post on facebook on my daughters page) and it has went viral, all over the world. I don't know if this link will work, but here is the story. https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/fires/6862840-10-year-old-girl-and-kitten-save-North-Dakota-family-from-burning-home

That same morning 2 of our sons (twins) were trying to get back home from SD, a 5 hour drive, with a newly purchased used camper for their business (after 2 years of searching for the right one) and a high gust of wind caught the camper and threw it into the back of the 1 ton pick-up and rolled into the ditch, luckily the camper came off of the pick-up or it would have rolled with it. Most of ND is rural, they ended up having to sit at the accident site for 6 hours waiting for 2 big wreckers to come and flip the camper over and haul it away.

We definitely have guardian angels watching over our family!!

Squirrels......Glorified rats or a rat with a fluffy tail... they chewed through the wire covering on an air vent in the roof of one of our porches, and had an exit on the other end of the porch. Hubby used a shotgun, but after he shot too many other things with the pellets spraying, I said no more of that!! I use an old 22, no scope, so far I have gotten 45 of the buggers, there are a few more out there, but seems like they have wised up to me! They have a lot of nests in our evergreen trees. I didn't mind them being here until I discovered they were making our porch as a home! We DO live in the country.

thank you, I didn't know who he was either. I watch very little TV, and if I do, the show is recorded so I can fast forward thru the commercials.

Mu brother Keith, died while rescuing 150 POW's from a death camp in North Vietnam in 1972. He was the only American solider that died and all the POW's made it alive. Keith was carrying an injured POW when the VC shot Keith and the solider trailing Keith took the POW and left Keith. They we only 100 yards from the American lines when Keith died. To this day Keith's body and his possession are still in Vietnam. The only thing I received from the VA was a burial flag. He was up for the CMOH but since it was not a authorized mission he was denied this metal.

Carol,
we are all here to help you. Please let us know, when you can, how things are going and what you have been able to do.
Happy Friday;
Bruce.

Thank you for checking, as of now I am using an old dell monitor, I got it to work properly, the cable connection was loose on the back of the monitor. I have a large desk area, so it is not inconvenient having the monitor hooked up.

I do not open and close the laptop very much.
The laptop has sat in the same spot for 2 years.

What is so disappointing is my husband has an old Lenovo laptop that he takes everywhere, and he is NOT a very careful person with electronics, and his works fine, (that was the main reason I chose Lenovo)

I watched some you tube on taking the screen apart, but at this time I do not dare to mess with that.

I will probably take it in the a computer repair early next year, it is too risky right now with the covid infection rate high in ND, my husband has COPD and is high risk.

Thank you to everyone for the replies and concerns.

This site is the first thing I check in the mornings, I learn something new every day!!

Better yet just power it on and watch the boot proceed. It the boot display is pink it is the display. Drivers are not loaded until the OS is loaded.
End of tree

as soon as I turn it on the Lenovo name is pink not white. The external monitor works correctly. I did do a restore, and that did not change anything. for now I will just use the external monitor, I do not move the the laptop to any other places. I contacted a computer place that is 80 miles away (very rural here) and they said $130-$180 to replace the display panel.
I will wait until next year, too much covid in ND right now.
Thank you to all!

I got the external monitor to work, I don't think I had it plugged in all the way. It is an old monitor so has the old cable that you tighten with screws, the laptop has the connection but not the screw holes. so far so good!!!

Still have one grandchild here, as she was exposed to a person on Saturday, that test positive Tuesday, with the virus, that person is not sick. I was not close to the person, I hope to go get us tested tomorrow.

thank you for all of the suggestions

It is likely that there is either a loose connection, a broken wire, or the display is bad. Start the laptop and when the pink screen shows try moving the display around to see if it clears, if not gently twist the display to see if anything changes. If both fail to get results try pinching the display along the edges using your thumb and forefinger, the top and bottom also. If all fails it is likely a bad display. Let me know.

I was handed a Microsoft Surface that was dead, I had to give it CPR. This required laying it face down on a towel and pressing quite firmly near the location of a push on connector on the system board, it is still working flawlessly .

thank you, I tried this to no avail. I will try Lenovo support tomorrow, I have 2 grandchildren here so I wouldn't be able to carry on a conversation with support at this time.

I posted this on this site, as so many of you are very helpful in computer issues. Sorry if it upsets some, I don't have a lot of experience on forums.
