Darla, I am sorry I misinterpreted your question.

Flying a 747 is simple, too, when you know how.

Thank you for saying that. I have a feeling there is a lot more to flying a 747 :-) Our daughter worked in stress management on 747's for about 12 years at Everett WA. Quite a plane!

Thank you for your instructions. It worked :-) I feel embarrassed...it was so simple. That page isn't in my user manual that came with my camera...but your directions must be from the online manual, where I should have looked, before asking this question. Thank you so much!

I have a Nikon D5100. My question is: I must have changed my settings, and I have no idea how to change it back. I am hoping someone can help me. There is a message on my swivel monitor that I would like to remove. It appears each time I want to view a picture on the monitor. I have no idea what I clicked 'ok' on, to get the following message. It says "Noise reduc:; Act. D-Light:; HDR:; Retouch:; and Comment:" It appears each time I hit the playback button, and then it disappears when I hit it again. Can someone tell me how I can get this setting removed, without changing all setting back to the original ones? Thanks :-)

Thank you for your prompt reply. Such a simple solution! Wish that final step would be included in at least the larger online book for this camera...or maybe it is, but I just didn't find it :-)

"When viewing your shots, push the multi-directional/function switch (the ring part) next to the LCD down once or twice."

I apologize for not looking at 'search' first. The answer was right there. I had the 'playback' settings correct. I checked with the pdf book online (specific to my camera) and with another 641 page book "Complete Guide to the Nikon D5100" by Thom Hogan. I did not see the last step in viewing the histogram in either of these books. Thanks to your site, for the great help you provide :-)

Can someone help me get the histogram to appear, in playback on my D5100 screen? Please give me step by step directions. I just can't seem to get it to work. I go to the 'Playback Menu,'
and it must be in there, but I can't seem to find the correct things to check off (I have tried it with just "RGB histogram" checked, with all choices checked etc. Nothing seems to work). Thanks!

Thank you to all who are giving me advice. I have been learning a lot. I will leave the sensor cleaning setting 'on,' so it will be used regularly. And even though I will use the self-cleaning, I will not expect it to be 100% effective.

Thanks. Just to make sure I understand correctly...make sure the camera is sitting down, right side up...tri-pod mount down.

Thanks for the advice. I will set it to clean at both start up and shut down.
