Nikon updated their "grey market repair" policy a couple of years ago. Nikon will repair most of their high end cameras, for a fee, and the D5 is as high as they currently go, regardless of who imported them into the USA. Nikon changed their policy because they were loosing sales to other manufacturers, like Canon, who do not restrict repairs based on importer. Also, there are non Nikon affiliated repair facilities that could care less where the camera came from. There is no warranty coverage for grey market. If it needs fixing there will be a fee.
Nikon updated their "grey market repair"... (show quote)

Thank you for everyone’s responses I just checked with Nikon they will not fix gray market items for any cost they will send it right back the policy did not change

I know someone that has a used D-5 and a no VR 24-70 2.8 for sale for 3995.00
Serial number starts with "6" pointing to a European model and the lens does not have "US" at the start
both according to my unskilled research, points to grey market items.
The guy had purchased them for a girlfriend who was going to start shooting weddings but they broke up and he wants rid of them
So questions are....
Am I correct about these being grey marked items ??
and it seems to me this is a heck of a buy grey market or not....
I shoot sports several times a year for AP and this would be perfect for me.
please help with advice
Thank you
Larry

for smaller lenses I use a piece of electrical or gaffers tape to secure it and just leave lens hood on all the time

For larger glass I use a small strip of velcrow or (hook and loop fasteners).... find velcrow with adhesive and without.
I take 2 small strips of the "hook" with adhesive and stick it to lens and hood.
and use the a strip of the "loop" without the adhesive to attach across the hook portions after attaching the lens hood. works like a champ and keeps lens hood from spinning off and after removing the lens hood, store the "loop" portion on one of the "hook" sections attached to the lens or hood.
My smaller lenses don't have enough room to attach velcrow to the lens.
All it takes is to loose 1 50 dollar lens hood from a large lens

I have been to and photographed in all the lower 48 states and 75% of the National Parks and associated mountain ranges. I live in Florida on the Gulf Coast and have plenty of sand and surf available. Are there any compelling reasons or suggestions that I should know that might convince me to go to Hawaii. I have to travel alone now, so I would be unaccompanied. Any ideas to share? Thanks.

I did some side by side comparison and found Red River to be great, 'Fine arts as well, but quite frankly the best color came from Canon paper on the Canon pro100 with OEM ink an photoshop Canon Luster print profile. I have gone back to using OEM INK by the way, I had several issues

What were the issues with the non OEM Ink using the Canon Pro 100 ??
