I have a 36.6 Kw solar system on my dairy farm now for 12 years, located in central New York State. I have not had to purchase any power from my utility company (National Grid). I do have to pay the $17.35/month to have them read the meter. National Grid will buy my extra that I have put back into the grid. Last years rate was $00.02 dollars per kilowatt hour. System cost $120,000 to install with about $100,000 coming from grants. My monthly electric bills had been $600 to $1,000 per month. With grants solar isn't so bad.

My camera the Sony A7Rii is an e-mount and as far as I can tell your a77 is an a-mount. I do not believe they are compatible. Sorry, I am not selling any of my lenses. My reason for selling is that I am upgrading to a Sony A7riva. My A7rii is an excellent camera and my upgrading is strictly an emotional one probably not for a well founded reason.

I can always buy a e-mount len for your camera. I would like to buy your A7Rii. To whom do I make the check out to and what is your address.

very interested in your camera, would you have any lens to sell with camera. I am using a SONY A77 and would like to upgrade to do a better job of shooting negatives on a light table. I would need a macro 30 or 50 but do not know the mounting difference between my Sony a77 and your camera.

I'M an ardent student of the history of the Appalachian, Blue Ridge, and Smokey mountains. There's a great book out that documents a very important period of that region and it discusses in detail the area that supports the setting for this post. The book is titled " Moonshine, Murder, and Mountaineers " written by Allen Cook.

I want to steal a quote from the book that's pertinent in this case because the Dellinger Mill came to be in that period and is located right in the heart of thigs.

" There was a time in the Blue Ridge Mountains when scores had to be settled, when fear was replaced with resolve, and death was imminent. Around the turn of the 19th century, lynch mobs, gunfights, and blockade whiskey made Mitchell County, North Carolina the most dangerous place in America. "

I was cruising around Bakersville, N.C. wanting to absorb a feeling for things. That's when I came upon this mill.

The first 3 shots highlight the trough for water delivery and some support buildings. The 4th shot is the grinding building...which was not in operation when I was there. The 5th shot is of the grinding wheel. That wheel is steel. It was manufactured , shipped in 12 pieces to the closest rail head to the mill site, and had to hauled by mules over and around mountains a distance of 30 miles to the mill. It was then assembled on site.

The last picture is of my wife, on the left, a friend on the right and Jack Dellinger in the middle. Jack's ancestors built the mill over 148 years ago and family members have operated it
ever since. Jack lives in Florida but comes up every year to open for business and goes home when the season is over. He was 86 years old when we met him. He was out working grounds around the mill.

This next development in the story blew me away. Jack spent most of his adult working life as a computer wizard and flight engineer for NASA. His program was responsible for the design and perfection of the steering process of the mighty Saturn 5 rocket that put our men on the moon. I was stunned to meet such an individual in such a setting.

One final point of interest: In our conversations, I asked Jack who was the smartest in that original group of 7 astronauts. He said that each one was very smart, but the one who really excelled in educational accomplishments and pure intelligence was Buzz Aldrin.
I'M an ardent student of the history of the Appala... (show quote)

For with interest in old mill there is an organization on old mills "Society for the Preservation of Old Mills" SPOOM website: www.SPOOM.org.

I have been providing a service to local historians to help them self publish their historical findings. These publications contain many photographs which I scan and embed in to text documents. I have normally printed with Lulu.com but have been recently been sending some documents to kdpamazon.com which prints for about 1/2 the price of Lulu.com. Lulu does not have a maximum size for document uploading but kdpamazon has a maximum of 650meg file size. The last book I finished is 750megs and I do not know compress the document down to the 650 max size. The last books has over 175 photos so it would be a project to compress each photo which have been included as 300dpi size. Anyone have any ideas? I create the raw documents in Word 2007 max file size in a Word document is 300megs so I have to break books is to sections. I save in pdf and combine sections using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for combining and editing. This is a low budget project as I have been doing it for free to promote these historians work.

My old flatbed HP Photosmart 7510 just died and I have enjoyed scanning to card and not having to have the computer up and running. I have not been able find a flatbed scanner that will scan directly to a card. Can anyone help.

Print On Demand is a fine way to go for your project. I have completed 9 books so far and have used free creating services from Createspace.com and Lulu.com. Photo quality is best from Lulu. I always print in color even if the photos are b&w. So far I have used 8x10 1/2 size books both soft cover and hardcover. Soft cover books cost $.20 per page. Lulu allows many types of uploads but pdf is fine. You do need to have all photographs at least 300dpi. Your program may not save at 300dpi. Also, you need to save in pdfA at 300dpi.

Hi folks, I'm new to the group. I have been spending time photographing negatives of aerial photos and publishing them in books. I have been doing fine with black & white but the color negatives have a blue cast. I know I can use a scanner but I have 2 million in the collection and scanning is slow.
