In the heat of the battle anything can happen, including popping out the SD card while the camera's on. Stuff happens, just have your recovery software ready if needed. Cameras and cards are more reliable than ever but if you have two card slots, set one for raw and one for jpeg, one time, last year I had the raw card fail and couldn't even recover them but I had the jpegs as backup.....Phew!

As a corporate shooter, I charge for "Post Processing"....to download, edit and convert raw to jpeg for client's use. Retouching is also post processing to "enhance" a portrait. Shooting under mixed lighting WB, dodging burning, etc. helps make your work pop and crushes anyone trying to do the same with a smart phone. Very seldom do I give a client something right out of the camera, only when under a tight deadline for a blog or Twitter feed in real time.
X-rays prove that even the greatest artists worked their canvasses to the Nth degree to finesse the final painting.

Elliott....Open Bridge, click on a file, doesn't matter if it's raw or jpeg, do not open. Go up to File>Scroll down to File Info on bottom>Advanced>Schema Then look for Image Number.
Best,
PAZ

Philo, toss the card. Cards are fairly inexpensive. How old is your Canon? If you have backup gear, you might want to send it in for a work over. Your raw files are the closest thing to a negative, you won't get the same results manipulating a jpeg, you lose a lot in color correction and your shadows & highlights due to the compression. don't skimp on your cards. Depending on how important your job is, you also might want to sling an extra camera over your shoulder with a different focal length lens. As usual, it's CYA, all the time, don't let your guard down!

I know for myself I have set auto ISO and forgot to reset in that particular mode whether it be P,M,A,S, etc.
When I'm shooting fast at an event, anything can happen. Hopefully you're shooting raw and can correct any slips in the heat of the battle. I'm shooting 2-D750's going one to the other and anything can happen while you're thumbing a wheel!

Still sounds like a buffering problem. Check the speed of your cards.

I'm a MAC user, I'm too afeared of those virus ridden PC's. But if they turn away from the Pro photogs I'd be mad and probably just retire!

Could this be more of a buffering problem with your SD card rather than a shutter malfunction?
