I think it says you can “understand” it, not learn it. There is a difference.

The great mathematician John von Neumann once said, "In mathematics you don't understand things, you just get used to them."

Getting hit by lightning and meteorites ... don't you just hate it when that happens?

Just get on with it, stop whining.

Come on, the OP was asking an honest question, not whining.

But only for Windows 7 and above at this time. Just downloaded this version last week but have not had any time to explore it yet.

GIMP 2.10.2 is available for Linux as well. I just installed it on Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS. I used Flatpak to install it. The only trick is that you have to reboot after installing Flatpak.

From Sports Illustrated, August 24, 1959:

On Croquet

The wicketest game
Still can be fun,
Provided it's played
With mallets toward none.

No BBF on a T3 but I'll try a set with AI Servo. Thanks for the suggestion.

Are you sure? This article says that BBF is possible on a T3, and tells how to do it.

Given the above facts, what is your experience with the most cost effective but still sufficiently sophisticated Editor for me?

You are stating two potentially conflicting requirements at once, but there is a solution: GIMP (sometimes called "the GIMP").

It is free, which is very cost effective. It is extremely sophisticated: it can do most anything Photoshop can do, though it has a different interface.

It is not particularly intuitive to use, but then, neither is Photoshop. The help system is OK, and there are a few books available. I can recommend "Beginning GIMP" by Akkana Peck.

It is open source, and has been around since 1996, so you shouldn't have to worry that support will disappear. It is available for macOS, Microsoft Windows, and Linux.

Hope this helps!

A little off-topic, but once I took the test for the novice class amateur radio license. You had to be able to copy Morse code at 5 words per minute. (This was a long time ago ... now there is no Morse code requirement.) The 13 wpm test for the general class license came first, so I took that, and passed easily. One inspector didn't want to accept that, because I hadn't shown the ability to copy 5 wpm! That's really slow ... I would have fallen asleep between letters. (I wasn't prepared for the written test for the general class license, or I would have taken that too.)

I see no one here has ever tried to watch a complete cricket match?!

Yes! Cricket is like baseball, but without the frantic pace. I'm just becoming a cricket fan, specifically the New Zealand Blackcaps. Kane Williamson is the best, but I'm more of a Mitchell Santner fan. Actually, a T20 game is relatively fast, about like a baseball game. A 5-day test match is, shall we say, an acquired taste, though I do see the appeal. Lots of strategy, more than baseball I think.

For the record, I'm a Red Sox fan, in my 60s. I love baseball, the DH, triples, pitcher's duels, intentional walks without having to deliver the pitches, rules that keep fielders from getting killed, and umpires getting the calls right because of replay reviews. I don't love relief pitchers who strike out the side with 100 mph fastballs, batters who step out after every pitch, or pitchers who forget to deliver a pitch, at least once in a while.

For testing, to get a feel for what is going to happen, you might try some moon photography. The moon moves across the sky at about the same speed as the sun (within a few percent), and it's easier to shoot.

Magic Lantern (for many Canon cameras) has focus stacking capability. Taking the pictures at different focus can be done automatically in-camera. Combining them into a single image has to be done in an external program. I use Photoshop CS4, because that's what I have.

Here a link (one of many found by googling) that tells how: http://www.instructables.com/id/Magic-Lantern-for-Macro-Photography/

Thank you all for your kind words. And Bobsink, yes I had my share of misses too. One of my fellow photographers caught one of the tern's bill just piercing the water. I tried and tried but never caught that.

Here's one I got about 9 years ago, a Common Tern, I think. A bit soft, but I'm proud of it. I tried many more times without success.
