Wi-Fi printing has changed my life. Ok, that’s a bit extreme, but the convenience is worth it.

If she’s using her phone a lot, definitely go that route.

Lens manufacturers pretty much have this figured out. If a lens is large/heavy enough that is poses a threat to the camera mount, they almost always come with a separate tripod mount. Usually a 105 macro is not that heavy that you need to worry about it.

In my film days I had a growing family and buying film for my Canon Ftb was not at the top of my priority list. When I did take pictures, I had to make sure that I got it right as I could ill afford many mistakes. Also, I often had to use the same roll of film for many different types of photographs. When digital came along the first thing that excited me was the ability to change camera settings at any time, especially ISO, and not have to photograph everything using he same setting.

TLb, but yeah…exactly that.

Composition, exposure, focus…one chance to get it right.

I wouldnt generalize about wildlife images and metal prints, but the tones and graphic nature of that specific pelican pic should look great !

Agree. It’s very much photo-specific, but that pelican shot would likely be great.

Anyone uploading RAW filles to UHH??? In fact can you?? Most raw files are larger than 20MB limit on the UHH.

Yeah, sorry…a bit of ignorance on my part trying to make a metaphor that would ring with the group.

Perhaps ‘trying to share that video with the grandkids’ would be better.

Tall, affectionate, sensitive moose seeks Nikon owner for long term relationship.

Oh…I think I see your problem…

Nice shot.

How does this compare with anything?

539 download and 24 upload - from Spectrum.

It depends on what you want to do. A house with three teenagers all streaming video and downloading tunes? I think you’ll be pretty good.

Uploading lots of RAW files to UHH? Not so much, as long as you don’t mind the wait.

A friend purchases a new SIM card with a plan for each overseas trip. Worth looking into.

ATT has an international plan at $10 per day per device, with full service that you bring from home. Call to sign up; it’s free, and only costs when you use it (remember: data counts).

Also free service in the western hemisphere, with the exception of French Guyana and some Caribbean islands.

A year ago New Year’s Day, I’m driving to the gym and decide to take the GPS directions through the north end of my neighborhood (yeah…I never do that, but it was so weird I played along) instead of to the west.

I get on the highway at the northern exit, and when I get to the usual exit I see the road is closed. There’d been a shooting at 2:30 and police were investigating, so…backroads.

After tightening the legs, I push down on each one to double check. Can’t guarantee it will always work, but it gives me a little more comfort.

I try to be constructive, and break my comments into several parts:

Composition: to be nice, I’ll ask what story they’re trying to tell. For instance what’s the subject? Also framing, extraneous elements like wires and poles.

Focus: what are you focusing on? What focus mode and why.

Exposure: exposure mode and why. Why high ISO and fast shutter speed? How did you select aperture and shutter speed? For instance, noon sun, high ISO, fast shutter speed for a landscape?

Thinking about going for a ride on a narrow gauge train in Durango, Colorado in late May. Wondering if anyone here has "been there done that" ? Any do's or don'ts advice would be much appreciated!

2012, in Ushuaia for a Cape Horn rounding trip. It took 40 hours traveling from door to hotel, and waiting for a third fellow to show up who missed his flight out of Buenos Aires. We watch his plane come in down the Beagle Channel from the hotel room, and drive over to the airport to pick him up. What to do?

Gary and Bill are both train enthusiasts, so I propose The Train At The End Of The World, narrow gauge, about 10 miles west of town, and we order box lunches. Total win.

I saw that the great blue herons were back for the season, but they weren’t really active yesterday at 4:30. Instead, I saw that the neighborhood osprey are back.
