Love it! Great to be in the right place at the right time.
Had a Goshawk in our back yard that last two days. Lucky for us, but not so good for our local rabbits.
Nikon DS7100
55-300mm lens
Used 1.3 image area on some of the pictures
ISO 200 , 300mm , f 5.6 , 1/500 (sunny day)
ISO 400 on snowy day
Such striking colors and I believe I was able to capture some personality too. Taken through glass as I did not want to spook my subject.
Nikon D7109
CH setting for fast moving subject
Used Auto function in order to get the shots before the bird flew off.
The barb wire in focus is a neat effect. Very creative.
First try at some moon shots. The first I tried to have a few branches from the tree out of focus in hopes of drawing the eye to the moon. Did this work or does it just look awkward? The second is just a pure moon blown up by cropping the picture.
Best wishes on a speedy recovery.
Very nice. Well done and my congratulations on your nomination.
Great tip. Since I am usually out hiking a tripod is not always a great option. I will try your suggestion.
I was using aperture priority as I have had better success to date. Just bought the camera and two lenses and learning all the features. You are correct on the hand held point. I have not invested in a tri-pod yet, but realize that is a must for some of subjects I would like to explore.
Thank you for advice, I will keep these points in mind then next time I am out. The elk are all down right now because of the heavy snows up high so I will have more opportunities to find them to try again.
