I came across this little nest with two fledgling Anna's Hummingbirds waiting for their next meal. I waited patiently and 20 minutes later mom showed up. These shots are four of the best of the 300 or so shots I took during three feedings. I probably spent about an hour standing still as possible so as not to disturb mom or the babies. Shot with a Nikon D300 and a Sigma 150x600C lens; 1/1000, f7.1, ISO 640.
Fantastic captures and what a thrill to see!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Great pics! It's difficult to even find a hummingbird nest, let alone be able to get any shots of hatchlings (who look to be almost as big as Mom, in this case).
Very nice shots!
Did you post some earlier? The little ones have gotten a little bigger from some photos I saw earlier (if this is the same nest).
Anyway keep going back if you can and keep posting, these are fun.
Watching mom feed her young makes me think of sword swallowing.
Saxman71,
While I have seen many photos of Hummingbirds caught inflight, I have never seen shots of their nests and feeding their babies. Really wonderful. Thanks.

Outstanding captures! What a special sight!
Thanks very much. Actually, these are the first photos I have ever posted on UH. It's remotely possible someone else posted photos of the same nest. While I was standing there, a couple other folks happened by and asked what I was doing. They, however, had no cameras. The nest is fairly close to a heavily traveled foot trail in a major natural area in Seattle.

Great set. As someone mentioned, not an easy task.
