In a few days we are leaving in search of the Northern Lights in Norway. I have search the internet for tips and found a few.
Now I am asking fellow UHH for tips but more than that, any watch outs, advice to make the hopeful experience a success.
I am taking:
D750 w Tamron 24-70 F2.8
Tripod
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!
The wider the lens, the better!
I've had great results with the D750 and the 14-24 2.8.
Try to find a foreground reflection in a pond, puddle or something and mid-ground feature.
The attached was with 14-24 2.8 @ 14mm , 2 8, 8 sec, i think.
Shoot in live view, manual focus and zoom in to focus on a bright star. CHECK FOCUS after each shot. Be aware of the rile of 500 and adjust ISO accordingly to get the desired shutter speed. Lock mirror up once you achieve focus. Use a remote release. The D750 has excellent low light properties, so don't be afraid to bump the ISO to 1600, or even up to 2000.

As you might know, Bill & I have had great times checking out waterfalls all over the North East for several years.
Waterfalls are fascinating, natural phenomena. WE would love to see what waterfalls you've encountered!

Nice images, makes me curious to visit there. I kicked around Panama in 2016 and was checking it out as a place to move to. I am retired now and looking at going back. I have a lot of pictures and cannot recall if I ever posted any since I joined UHH in 2017. At 71 now I think it is more appealing.
Post all you want of this lovely place and Panama too.
Thank you for sharing you images and words.
Bruce.
These are really well done. I love the colors and the application of day for evening and turning on the lights! And added the glow on the street from the lights above make it all the more realistic. The sky replacement fits the scene and mood. We'll done!

Hi Wayne, will this fit the A7 IV?
Did you buy it new and where? Why no boxes?

I rented a Sony for a couple of shows so I could use a particular lens. Both times I had issues in the first few hours getting the settings to stick. For example, I had to set it to shoot in RAW multiple times before it seemed to be a permanent setting. Similarly, I went through the entire menu putting everything where I wanted it and it took several times before it seemed to be persistent. This happened both times and the guys at the camera shop didn't know what was causing it.
Anyone else have an issue like this with the A7IV?

Nothing wrong with people adding character and scale to a photo.
Architect, yes i agree as long as it enhances the photo. One or 2 people to give scale and balance can be very effective but swarms of people with cell phones lit up don't add to the photo. In this case it was one or the other

Very difficult to get a photograph here without people. We were first in line to enter for the nighttime candle lit event. I hustled through the 1 mile Siq and grabbed a seat in the front row and made this shot right away. Soon the place was full of people sitting on the rugs in between the luminaria shining their cell phones and taking flash pictures, and the possibility of getting a shot without people had vanished. I have a couple of other shots from this moment that I will process and post soon. BTW the façade of the "Treasury" is illuminated solely by candle light in this image.
