Yesterday I took my camera along for a visit to a couple of local garden centers. Everything is in bloom and the colors are overwhelming. These are all hand held - no stacks - and just quick snaps to capture the beauty.

Very nice set. You are fortunate; yesterday morning I woke to 2-3 inches of snow in the North East.
Thanks for the color.

In past years we have had a small family of eagles nesting at the lake but no one remembers anything like this year! Yesterday I saw 4 immature birds and 3 adults! These are my very first eagle shots ever. Shot with: D500, Sigma C 150 -600, handheld, heavily cropped. An exciting morning!

Very nice shots. I did not come anywhere as close to your images with a 400mm max length at a dam in Ct.
Thanks for sharing.

I love Europe and it's beautiful architecture. I've made many trips to various countries and I hope to do a few more before my time is up. My aunt and uncle made a trip to Europe many years ago to visit their daughter and son-in-law who was stationed in Germany. Upon their return, I eagerly asked them how they enjoyed their visit to Europe. Their response floored me. They both shook their heads and told me that they hated it. I was bewildered. I asked why and their response was and is classic. My aunt looked at me and said, "Well, everything over there is just so old." This B&W image is from one of the many palaces in Greece. I'm sorry to say that I didn't record which palace it was but I loved the way the light was playing off the walls and the furniture. It was originally taken in color and converted to B&W in Photoshop.

Your appreciation of Europe is well warranted. Along with old comes hand craftsmanship. Good capture.

When travelling for an extended period of time do you download a day's shoot to a portable external drive; not a laptop? If so what kind?

Go back to 2/19/19 "SD card backup of photos without a laptop or tablet" and read the replies. LaCie was a suggested hard drive that has a SD card reader slot that seems to work on its own without a laptop. It is $350 but a 2 TB HD which may be a solution, (LaCie 2TB DJI Copilot BOSS External Hard Drive B&H # LASTGU200400 MFR # STGU2000400), Call B&H or Adorama tomorrow and ask a representative if this will be your solution. Call LaCie as well; $350 buys about 15 64Gb San Disk memory cards but you have less than 1 Tb of storage. The LaCie is 2Tb. Read reviews on the durability of LaCie as well.
Good luck.

Would anyone care to share their opinion concerning On1 editing software? Also, will it support the Nik collection as a plugin?

Attached are two responses I received from DxO on NIK's compatibility during December 2018:

#1 They are written to work with Photoshop, so you can open an image in Photoshop, and then use the plug-in to open any of the 7 programs. When you open them as standalone, only 4 will allow you to open images within them. The others must be launched from a certified host software. You could do work in one of your other programs and then as long as the image is compatible with Nik Collection 2018, you could then use one of the four programs afterwards, but not all will be available as they need host software.

Riley

#2 Greetings,

The four in the Nik Collection 2018 by DxO that can be used as standalone software are:

Analog Efex Pro 2
Color Efex Pro 4
HDR Efex Pro 2
Silver Efex Pro 2

It will not work with DPP or ON1 unfortunately.

Riley
DxO Customer Support

You could write DxO (NIK) again for an update. I was disappointed since NIK staff seemed to have a professional attitude toward customers. Riley had responded very quickly which is not a trait from some other companies and answered all my questions; another trait not shared by all companies.
Good luck and if NIK does work now let me know.

Some more info for all. The first edition of "The Copyright Zone" was published in 2010. The second edition was published in 2015.
This book was written by Edward C. Greenberg, JD and Jack Reznicki. It is a quick read and very enlightening. But, copyright laws do change. It is due for a third edition.

Go to B&H Event Space for the most recent video from Greenberg and Reznicki during 2018. The laws were again changed and explained by these two gentlemen. You tube under B&H may have the same video.

Shutter Count is software you can download through the Apple App Store. It has worked for me on the Canon T5. Cost was $2.99. They offer some kind of upgrade above the basic shutter count feature but I didn't go for it. It is my understanding the T5 is good for 100,000 clicks.

Ive seen arguements from all sides concerning camera shutter life and how the camera should be replaced when it reaches this mark. I own a canon 1200D/T5 (used) and a nikon 5600 (new). I know canon doesnt offer a means to check this (or do they?) and nikon does. Can anyone help direct me in finding out how to find the shutter count for my canon?

Be Careful. I have an 12.9" iPad, about 2 years old, that cannot read a Lexar CF/SD card reader. I'm told the iPad does not have enough power to read the card reader or the CF card. Another tech told me it may be the lightning port on the iPad which cannot handle the reader. I can use an Apple SD card reader that works perfectly on the iPad but that is for SD cards only. I know the Lexar CF/SD works on an iMac with no problems. Check with Apple first then try a dealer you trust.

Be aware! I have the Pixma Pro 100 and recently emailed customer support with a question. An ultimate response I received is:

Thank you for contacting Canon Support.

Your product is now supported exclusively through our online knowledge base and the Canon Community Forum. Instructions to reach these tools any day, at any time, are provided below.

Canon Community Forum
Please click HERE to access the Canon Community Forum where you can get support for your product from other community members.

Canon Knowledge Base
1. Click here to reach www.usa.canon.com

I am use to receiving direct support from Canon, either through an email or a phone call, and I am not a fan of community support or online knowledge based articles. Since the 100 is still being sold I don't like that this help is being withdrawn.

Check into the 10 by calling Canon to see what their support policy is.

Good luck.

My Canon 9900 printer is dead (of course right after I ordered a bunch of new ink).

Anyone using the Canon Pro 10? If so, especially interested in problems with it.

My usage is long term hobbiest, do some 13x19 prints, but mostly 8x10 for friends and family.

New great granddaughter, so she deserves the best...

IMO calling this style "Intimate" Landscape is proper and has a place within what a landscape is or is not. Tradition doesn't have to dictate distant and encompassing views must be present to have a landscape; or that subsets of a genre cannot be created. What about Seascapes or Mountain Views? The qualifying words to me are Intimate Landscape or even Close Up Landscape.

Wikipedia says: A landscape is the visible features of an area of land, its landforms, and how they integrate with natural or man-made features.
A landscape includes the physical elements of geophysically defined landforms such as (ice-capped) mountains, hills, water bodies such as rivers, lakes, ponds, and the sea, living elements of land cover including indigenous vegetation, human elements including different forms of land use, buildings, and structures, and transitory elements such as lighting and weather conditions.

BTW your images came out very well, nice photography.

Linda had posted a thread earlier highlighting some landscapes that

There was a discussion there and on an earlier post about "intimate" landscape
photography which I found to be quite interesting. While I certainly do enjoy the
many gorgeous images posted of those traditional landscapes, I am particularly
drawn to a closer look at Mother Nature's offerings without going macro.

There's just something about the textures that are so intriguing, I had to post
what I feel are intimate landscapes. I encourage further discussion on this
topic as well as critique of what I've submitted here.

And, please, feel free to add your own "intimate" landscapes.
