The OEM Nikon is pretty flimsy. I've replaced mine with a Really Right Stuff LCF-11 Replacement Foot. It is far more sturdy. I have the FL model of the 70-200.

Good info, thanks.

Don't have that particular lens, bus several others with mounts. I never take them off - sure as can be, I'd forget where I put it, or it would be one of the rare times I use a tripod and it would be at home.

Thank was my thinking as well. Thanks.

So I have the Nikon 70-200 2.8 lens. It comes with the tripod mount on it. Do users of this type of lens just keep the mount on there all the time or do you remove it when not using a tripod? Just interested in what folks do. Thanks in advance.

I am not a Nikon user - but I did go to our local camera store when Nikon came through with their "road show" introducing the Z7. I was impressed with the whole setup, especially the EVF which I was hardly aware of not being "live". It is a lot of money - but so is the D850. I'm afraid I'm not much help here.

No worries, I pulled the trigger and bought the D850. I do not regret it one bit!

Just bought my D850 and Nikon’s Holy Trinity of lenses. (14-24, 24-70, and 70-200) I’ve been looking for a bag but can’t decide on a backpack or shoulder bag. Any recommendations on a nice, roomy bag?

I rented the Nikon Z6 for two weeks recently and did a lot of side by side shooting with my D500 (the D500 and D850 have the same AF system). I was very impressed with the Z6. It's autofocus is no match for the AF in the D500 though. The Z6 would often hunt in even slightly dim light. My D500 would lock on the same subject right away. The D500 is better at tracking also. The Z6 has a low light focusing mode but that slows things down a little.

If you plan to photograph birds in flight, sports, or action, I would go for the D850.
The Z6 and Z7 are more suited for static shots.

for sports/action/BIF... DSLR has a strong following... and Nikon is seriously in the game here...
