very nicely done! what did you use to back light the lily?

The morning sun peeking through the brush at the edge of the pond. It was not back lighting, the sun is lighting the lilly from the front through a little space in the brush. I purposely under exposed the shot to get the effect.

Thanks for your comment!

One with no cropping 70 - 400 SSM Sony lens @400 from about 8 Ft

After a humid wet summer the weather was perfect in New Hampshire. I am now taking more photos with some of my new Sony lenses. Shot these yesterday.

I love the 2nd one, the water drops make a classic pose stellar.
Is that a Mockingbird?

Nice work Bill.

Very enjoyable. I have similar shots as #2, except with robins and cedar waxwings. Do you happen to know what kind of tree that is? Some kind of cherry, it seems. I have one outside my balcony in an apt. complex.

I think it is. It's about a block from my house on my dog walking route. Whatever kink it is the birds seem to love the berries.

All you Obummer fans would not have had a problem with my comment if it had been about GW Bush.

Since my comment was directed toward your Arrogant Stupid non citizen Socialist Muslim residing in the white house you got your nickers in a wade.

Are you into taking photos or talking nonsense? Why don't you post some photos and leave the negativity out of your posts.

God bless America and all it's leaders!

As I've aged, I've become kinder to, and less critical of, myself. I've become my own friend.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world, too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it, if I choose to read, or play on the computer, look at hundreds of photos from people I don't really know on UHH until 4 AM, or sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 50s, 60s & 70s, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love, I will.

I will walk the beach, in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves, with abandon, if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And, eventually, I remember the important things.

Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break, when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength, and understanding, and compassion. A heart never broken, is pristine, and sterile, and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it).

It was fun.
I was enjoying the silly answers.
Then you posted the above quote.
I fear your namesake, the gentleman bandit, would be disappointed both with your attempt at humor and spelling.

First I want to say I don't argue politics or religion on forums and don't go to threads that are oriented that way. I usually don't respond to them, but it's getting a little ridicules that it's become so that anything mentioned in this forum ,no matter how innocent it is,there's always somebody that has to bring POLITICS into the thread.Come on guys.It doesn't matter how much you hate the guy, whether it's because of his politics, views on life, family, religion,or whatever (RACE?) remember that the majority of the American People voted him in.It doesn't matter what you think about the man ,he's going to be your leader for almost another 4 years and instead of all the complaining now,if you were that against the man being YOUR ELECTED LEADER, you should have maybe spent more energy trying to get votes and support for the candidate of you liking.

I see the term used quite often in the forums. Excuse my ignorance but what does the dark side mean? Thanks...

The dark side can be a good thing in art, music, photography, writing, poetry. Just keep it where it belongs.

I got a new umbrella/softbox and had to try it out before going to my step son's Lacrosse game last night..and of course...the only model around was either Gracie or Pancho...

I put the light a little bit too far down in angle but it's a nice modifier anyway...here is a sample...(if you look close at the download, you can see the reflection of it in her eye very clearly...that 135mm lens is a freaking cornea slicing monster...I love it.)

Great shadows, handsome model. What 135 lens are you using?
