I think it is a great shot but the barn should occupy more space in the frame. I'd crop the left side dark area beyond the tree and some of the foreground up to apprex. where the cloud reflection is.

I don't know what kind of music you had in mind, but there is plenty of free classical music for backgrounds and it is all beyond copyright age.

Is it possible that you keep a filter on all the time?

I like the edit by lightchime because it removes much of the empty sky and shifts the horizon to a more interesting place.

I forget to mention that this was a tabletop setup with the camera pointed down at the light box.

I have no pictures of the setup which is now dismantled.
Here is a description:
A Promaster 6020 tripod that collapses to 12".
A focusing rail.
The camera with a Raynox DCR 250 closeup lens
The light box
A camera remote.

The Raynox lens allows the camera to focus to about 6"
but exact adjustment was done with the focusing rail and the zoom on the lens.
The idea was to frame just the inside of the slide, eliminating the curved corners of the mount.
Any decent light box will do. I used a battery-operated one.
Using a remote on the camera is important since you do not want to disturb the alignment once you get the first picture aligned.
I taped a cardboard corner on to the light box glass so I could put all the slides in the same location.

If you have a recent version of Adobe reader, there is an option to convert a PDF into a word document or Excel file. Both of those can be resized.

with slides the fastest way to convert is to photograph them. I used a small lightbox and a close-up lens. I made a setup with the camera on a tripod shooting down and put a cardboard corner on the lightbox to position the slides.
I was able to do one every 10-20 seconds - say 200 an hour. this is much faster than scanning.

Start with the assumption that the distance is 1 mile.

Then an object that fills the frame side-to-side will be about 740' wide (tangent of 8 deg. = .14).

You say the tail occupies 100 pixels width out of about a total picture width of 5000 pixels = 2%.

So the mythical object at 1 mile is about 15' wide (2% of 740 ft.)

Since you estimate the tail flukes at 10' wide, you were about 2/3 of a mile away.

You can adjust these numbers to suit new assumptions.

For one thing - in the original picture you say the tail is about 100 pixels wide but how wide was the whole picture in pixels?

Field of view for a 200 mm lens is about 8 degrees but I don't think you have enough data to determine distance.

I hope you're in good physical shape. When you arrive in Cuzco (11,000 ft) they warn you not to pick up your luggage. You might find that the backpack feels heavier at that altitude and it will take time for you to adjust.
Coca tea is a common remedy for altitude headaches, and some of the natives seem stoned on cocaine.

Machu Picchu is a bit easier (8,000 ft), but beware if you take a side trip to Sacsayhuaman (12,000 ft) - my wife was seeing dots before her eyes.

All that aside, the site is worth the trip.

If you have Win 7 Pro you can use MS Virtual PC to run your computer in Win XP mode.
I have an old scanner with no Win 7 driver, so for the rare times I use it I open an XP window and run it there.

Google has a good free option. It is Picasa web albums.
When you load pics from your computer to a web album you can just give access to a select few. They would have a link to album.
I can also see my albums on my TV using a BluRay player with web access that connects to Picasa and can see them on my tablet with an app that connects to Picasa.

I have a fairly new Lenovo Thinkpad with an i5 processor and 8gb running 64 bit Win 7 Pro. It is a very durable and very fast computer with a gorgeous 1600 x 900 screen and it cost about $800. I highly recommend Lenovo H series - very well bulit.
