OK, 49 views and not a single creative person wanting to take a chance on this image.

Here is something that I put together. A theater poster, with the soon to be released Greatest Hits CD, as a central image.

I am thinking maybe it is time for me to leave UHH. It has been both fun and interesting; however, it is clear that I have out grown the current users.

God Bless and Good Luck to all.

I have actually sailed the seven seas and the five oceans, sailed around the Horn, and Cape Hope. I have crossed the equator a number of times, as well as the international date line. The land of the Blue Nose dolphin (inside the artic circle) is someplace that I have been more than once.

In all of my sailing travels, I have never found anyplace where sea water ran down hill to the left, hence I must assume that your photo is not level by about 2.25 degrees. If you have Photoshop, I would suggest an image rotation about 2.25 degrees clockwise. My experience also tells me that if you straighten your image, you will likely end up losing the very top of the taller mast. One of the reasons that I always suggest shooting loose, to allow for post production adjustments.

Otherwise, this is a nice image of the "Kentucky Woman".

Here is a rather complex image, pretty much out of the camera, for your creative pleasure.

Turn this into something magical. Time for the imagination to kick into high gear.

I can hardly wait to see what our resident wizards come up with, and guest wizards are more than welcome (get in here Carla!).

Be creative; but, most of all have fun.

The b&w is flat, boring and hasn't a soul upon which one can dream.

The first image dances before the viewer's eyes, with it engaging color treatments. The halo around the man only adds to the ethereal and mystical nature of this piece of fine art. I cast 30 Chicago votes for number one!

Shine my good friend, your post production efforts with the second image just didn't workout very well for you; however, that doesn't mean that the original doesn't have some artistic potential!

I would urge you to post the original in the post processing forum, and let the wizards there have a go with making some part of this image into an artistic masterpiece.

Thanks for the comments- I have no ideas what I was out to accomplish - was just playing around, thought it looked good, but it's always nice to have another set of eyes to examine!

Do a Google search for the skin disease called "Vitiligo". Then tell us how good your skin texture looks to you.
:-(

Keep at it though, that is how people learn.

Both you and your daughter are lovely, and I wish you a happy Mother's Day. You might want to try a sepia tone on your image. . .even and smooth.

These are wonderful on many levels. The second image is about as good as any bird photograph should be, with its perfect capture. Belongs in a bird book!

I didn't recognize any particular application in your image, was just relating that I too enjoy making artistic statements from "straight" shots :)

And so it did pass that the old codger still loves the little girl from Maine. . .

I like it!

I'm still enjoying painting with Topaz. Kind of addictive :)

Thank you Linda for liking my image.

Might I suggest that an addiction is not a good reason to use a PP program, be it one of the Topaz modules or some other program. Yet I know all too well what you mean. When we get a new program, we have a need to test and experiment. I like to tell people get to a point with any new filter program where it improves your original image in a manner where you are not seeing the filter. At first, until the new rubs off, some have a tendency to over use a new filter.

Now with regard to your Topaz comment, was it just a friendly non-related comment, or were you suggesting that my Tulips are a result of Topaz filters in some fashion? If that is the case, I would love to know your thinking if you would be so kind. To help in this thinking, I am posting the original photo below so you and others can compare.

Also posted is another Tulip image where it has been really modified for an artistic presentation. . .and no Topaz was used.

Ken

Edit: Maybe to be fair, I should post the original photo used in the modified artistic presentation.

I'm not trying to be nasty and I won't piss in your pocket like some here. A good try but needs more attention... John

You are correct, this is a Hibiscus.

Flowers don't have "composure", people have composure; however, if you mean composition, then I thank you.

You are wrong on the question of sharpness, as this is a soft focus technique, shot at f2.8 with a 135mm soft focus lens. Look again, as there are two points of narrow focus.

Your comment on noise does not apply, and has nothing to do with this image. This was originally taken on a 35mm color slide that was later copied to a 4x5 piece of film, that I scanned at 1200 dpi.

Now for your question asking if I cleaned my lens, with your incorrect assumption due to there being "bits" everywhere. Well, you caught me. I went back and checked out the posted image, and much to my chagrin you are correct and I messed up and posted the wrong image. What you are seeing are small "bits" or dust spots on the scanned 4x5 piece of film. I had two copies of this image in my 4x5 scan file, and I thought they were both "cleaned". Well, it turns out that only one copy was cleaned, and I grabbed the wrong copy.

Therefore I am reposting the cleaned version, with the original once again being stored. Here I will make one final point. These "bits" that you so happily through in my face can only be seen by you and others because I checked the store original box on my original post, something that I notice you have not done with any of your posted snap-shots. Of course this does not surprise me considering your limited photography experience as compared to my 57 years of photography and fine art experience.

Now let me comment on your tone and your style of commenting. . .it stinks and needs some attention. Don't ever use four letter toilet words in one of my threads again, or I will report you to the system Administrator.

Thank You.
