I think you should post these in the Photo Analysis forum.

I like #2 - nice abstract - covers up some of the irregularities in the original.

Since this is the critique section, the 1st is out of focus and what's there doesn't have a main subject. To me, it's like wallpaper.

As to No. 2, when you cook with wine you want to use a good wine not the cheap stuff. To my mind, the same with an abstract. You need to start with a well executed image.

I realize I can be blunt but on the rare occasions when I post an image for critique I prefer unvarnished opinion. I apologize if my comments hurt your feelings.

I appreciate your comments and as a keen cook I completely understand where you are coming from.... I never cook with cheap wine and now I will never try to make a good image from a poor start!!!... Thank you for your input...

The composition is not quite there.
The flower that my eyes want to be the focal point is not the flower that has been focused on.
The image is about 1 stop overexposed.
That little bit darker will bring out the depth of colour that your eyes probably saw.
The red channel is possibly blown which will lose you detail in the reds.

The second image is a gimmick of the first.

Shine my good friend, your post production efforts with the second image just didn't workout very well for you; however, that doesn't mean that the original doesn't have some artistic potential!

I would urge you to post the original in the post processing forum, and let the wizards there have a go with making some part of this image into an artistic masterpiece.

Ken
