Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments, I am humbled.

In case you're curious, I used my Pentax K-3 camera along with a 38 year old manual Pentax (Asahi) 50mm f1.4 lens that I bought back in 1982. I used manual mode with EC set at -1 EV, which I find brings out the colors more like what the naked eye is seeing. Although I didn't add any saturation, I did add a little contrast in post...perhaps a little too much. Thanks again for your comments!

Then why wasn't the criticism posted there? I enjoy this site for what it is, a photography site, if I want to hear about politics and f**e news or listen to ignorance I watch CNN, ABC NBC, or MSNBC!

Morality Test

How moral are you?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This takes less than one minute and is incredibly accurate...well worth the little bit of effort I promise.

This test has only one question, but it's a very important one. By giving an honest answer you will discover where you stand morally.

The test features an unlikely and completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision. Only you will know the results, so remember that your answer needs to be honest.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The 'Situation'

You are in Miami with chaos all around you caused by a hurricane. There is a flood of biblical proportions.

You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster.

The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water.

Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury.

Now . . . 'The Test'

Suddenly you see a woman in the water. She is fighting for her life trying not to be taken down with the debris.

You move even closer. Somehow the woman looks like......Oh, Good Heavens, it's Nancy Pelosi!

At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take her under forever.

You Have 'Two Options'

You can save the life of Nancy Pelosi OR
you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the last minutes of one of the world's most powerful women hell-bent on the destruction of the USA.

Lastly . . . 'The Question?'

Here's the question, and please, give an honest answer.

Would you:

A) select high contrast color film, or...

B) go with the classic simplicity of black and white.
I received this in an email today and have not see... (show quote)

Ha! That's excellent.
I'd probably go with the B&W.

I think they usually implement the slip-in filter feature in larger lenses that have huge objectives, where a screw-on filter would be harder to carry around, and expensive. Of course, if you could afford one of those lenses, the expense wouldn't be an issue.

It is a B+W filter.

Did you get it from China? If so, most likely a fake. I've read that counterfeits have even been sold through Amazon.

Mine came out pretty red. The moon was almost straight up, it was cold and fairly clear (slight trace of clouds at times). I used a K3 in live view, and a 300mm f4 lens pretty much wide open. No tilt screen, so it was difficult to see the screen to focus. It came out fairly well considering being close to a big city (Houston) with the light pollution and all.

Something I've wanted, and needed, for years: a new right hip! Yes, it was an early present by a week, but still counts, doesn't it?👍🤓👍

Me too! Except mine was a new right knee. Looking forward to being able to venture out to take photos other than from my back yard.

You can pick up a used K3 body for <$500 now, which is an incredible bargain! It really has a quality feel in your hands, with its magnesium alloy body (doesn't just claim to have, like some) and solid, comfortable grip. All of your old Pentax lenses will benefit from the in-body stabilization. I set up one of the user defined modes for my old SMC Pentax-M lenses, which makes it very easy to use. The Pentax-A and any of the auto focus lenses (body has motor for screw-drive lenses) can be used in any of the semi auto modes (or manual), and including P and I think Auto mode, too.
