Look up Sherrie Levine: After Walker Evans. Levine rephotographed a Walker Evans photograph reprinted it in the same manner and claimed it was hers. It was a conceptual piece meant to challenge the notions of ownership. Also, look up appropriation art.

Appropriation art is not a clean or clear passage around copyright infringement. If your work is for commercial purposes, be prepared to defend a copyright lawsuit. 15 years ago I was charging $350/hour to represent a client in an intellectual property lawsuit. I have retired but my son who is actively practicing intellectual property law charges $500/hour. So, artist beware....

The girl deserves a Nobel prize in medicine. Actually, it is not a miracle-- It is a matter of activating the eyesight hormone opti-osterone, (it is derived from testosterone).

I've seen speculation that since Sony just released the first firmware update for the M4, it may be a while before there is a M5. In fact, it's possible that instead of going to a M5, they could release a whole new model camera to replace the RX10.

If you're always waiting for the next, you will never buy the now LOL

I have unsuccessfully tried to retire and to devote more time to photography. (A client came up with a series of very high value inventions and I could not walk away from this project). As soon as I can devote time to photography, I will buy the M4 if the M5 is not available.

Ignore HarryO, he's likely a lurker who posts comments to incite and aggravate. Check his profile, he's only started five threads but has over 1000 posts. Most of his post's I seen are just trying to aggravate and irritate or start an argument.

Your comments about HarryO are uncalled for. Your comments are your personal opinion and should not be posted on UHH

I have been waiting for the Mark V to be released, but I wonder whether I should stop waiting and buy a Sony RX 10 IV. I am looking for "Ugly" suggestions.

Well not sure where you were a cop but in Texas you must obey the "lawful" order of a police officer. Clearly this order was not lawful. The cop was disciplined by her own department. Having been a photojournalist on the streets for over 40 years I've seen assholes like this many times. What I can tell you is DART police are much more professional since this happened. Avi was completely in the right and the cop in the wrong. He had the balls to stand up against an unlawful order and he won.
Well not sure where you were a cop but in Texas yo... (show quote)

I totally agree. Standing up for the rights of photojournalists is the only way that we can get police to be more professional and to stop trying to force obedience to unlawful orders.

That says it all. Definitely words to live by.

Just received my new FZ1000 and need to get a couple of spare batteries. The OEM’s price knocked me over and I have read mixed (but mostly positive) reviews on the equivalent Wasabi batteries for much less $$.

Anyone here using them in their FZ’s and have any plus or minus thoughts?

There are loads of brands, but very few manufacturers of batteries. It is unlikely that Wasabi is the actual manufacturer.

I had one on a racing bike. When you engaged it, the mechanical load was noticeable in the form of the increased effort necessary to pedal the bike. Also, when you stopped, the power stopped and your lights went out (a safety issue). I ended up removing and discarding it. I replace my original battery powered lights. The batteries had to be replaced frequently, however I always had light when I needed it and I could pedal as easily at night as I did during the day.

I remember the light going off when I stopped peddling. My father hooked up a battery in the line but that was before the days of rechargeable batteries, and the batteries died. In the late 1950s when I was a patent examiner we had two categories for classifying batteries. Rechargeable (car batteries) and non-rechargeable (flashlight batteries). We had to group the rechargeable (D, C cells etc.) with non-rechargeable batteries. The Patent Office classification system eventually caught up with the technology.

You did not mention where in Florida. Here is a list I had made for my club. I live up near Ocala (north-central Florida).

Grew up in NYC/Brooklyn and semi-retired in Citrus County (south of Ocala). I am planning photo sessions for 2020 and appreciate receiving your list of places to try.
Thanks
