My HDR technique has evolved since I started shooting with the Nikon D850 and better quality Fx lenses.
I used to do 3 exposures +- 2 stops. I also have perfected a hand held technique, putting the camera in high speed mode and rapidly squeezing off 3 shots. Snug the camera into your grip and just hold steady.

Lately, since I have started using the Nikkor 14-28 f/2.8 I have found that I only really need the -2 and 0 exposure shots, as the +2 is just too bright for use. Unless I am doing an interior shot in a large church or similar structure.

Next, I am going to try +- 1 stop and see what works.

And, I've found that more than 3 images just doesn't work for me.

I do 3 exposures +- 2 stops, usually hand held and have had great results.

I also did the microlight flight over the falls and it was worth every cent. I went with this company: http://www.seasonsinafrica.com/adventure-activities-zambia/victoria-falls-activities/livingstones-adventure/batoka-sky-microlights/

I also went to the "Devil's Pool", which you can only do in the dry season. That was also a fantastic experience. See: https://tongabezi.com/experience/livingstone-island?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5-TXBRCHARIsANLixNzTnD2uhqc4ccN6QdshJc-tFtcxRWr6vOJI2fV_o_XFwN2AM_WZp00aAm3pEALw_wcB

Be aware that if you go to the Zimbabwe side, you will have to pay for a temporary visa, which is about $25-30.

I have my camera set to take 3 different exposures in A mode. I then process them using Photomatix. This way, I more control over the final output. I don't like in-camera HDR as you don't have as many choices for the final photo. By the way, I do most of my HDR shots hand held and have great success. Usually I don't have my tripod with me or it is a pain to carry it on a trip.

I use Paintshop Pro. It is not too expensive and it does just about everything the average photographer needs.

Look fine to me...not overcooked. I also do a lot of hand held, three exposures and process with Photomatix.

If you are going across Mass., such as Boston to PA, you might consider using I84 across CT instead, to avoid the Mass Pike tolls.

You can get an EZpass free. Just look up EZpass in Google to see where to order it from.

You can put a deposit on it and they deduct from the deposit as you use it and automatically replenish it when it gets down to $5.00, or you can replenish it manually when it gets down to a certain amount, such as $5.00.

The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco has the same system. If you don't have the toll device in your car, you or the car rental company gets the bill. The car rental company will bill you for it against the credit card you used.
