These were taken near Woodsfield, Ohio. There are so many ponds out in the country. You can't help but snap a couple of shots of them. :-D

I'm wanting to purchase studio lighting, but I have no idea where to start. I've looked at all these websites with full intention on purchasing lighting, but I get so overwhelmed. I'm not sure as to the type of lighting, the brand, how many... Ugh! Any helpful information is greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know of a place that I can purchase studio equipment on location. I want to be able to see what I'm purchasing before I get a suprise delivered! lol I live in south eastern Ohio and I'm willing to travel at least a couple of hours away. Thanks!

If you can get to Columbus, Oh. go to Midwest Photo they are a good source and their personnel are knowledgeable and can help you with your lighting. They handle all types lighting and are very helpful.

Thanks so much for your info. I most certainly can make it to C-bus. I go up there about every other month. I'll have to check it out.

I'm not a studio rat, but you should probably mention your budget and how much space you have.

You could probably get by with a simple two-light setup to start - a couple of lamps (or strobes), stands, and umbrellas. Add a paper backdrop or two.

If you are looking for something portable, check out the strobist at http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/ if you haven't already seen it.

I have about 575 sq ft. of actual studio space. This is empty space. My storage and waiting room are all separate. My budget is about $1000 to $1200. This would need to include back drops and the rack to hang it on.

"Faststone" is an image viewer that has a lot of cool tricks in it and it is free. When I view my photos all of the exif information is shown(you can also disable this option). It helps when you take a great photo to see just what you did. We tend to remember the good things that we do easier, so when in a similar situation you will have it stored in your mind just what to do.

Thank you for that wonderful tidbit of information. I'm going to have to use that next time.

On the first photo what aperature did you use?

I can't even begin to tell you. This is when I first got my DSLR camera and was just messing around with it. I know it was on auto though.

Trish, by the way, I love your Avator photo. Cheryl

Thanks Cheryl. I waited our entire vacation to get the opportunity to go and sit on the dark beach and wait for the sun to come up. I knew it was going to be amazing. I'm so glad I stuck it out! If you want to see a larger size of that picture, I have a post that's called "Surfside Sunrise".

Wow, this picture is fantastic. I can't stop looking at it. I'm a huge fan of sunsets and have loads of them myself, but nothing like this. It's a different spin on a sometime "over done" subject, if you will?

I never realized until I shot these photographs how beautiful old wine barrels are. These were all taken at Breitenbach Winery in Sugarcreek, Ohio this past Sept.
