I am very curious to know what you expect to gain by switching to mirrorless. I been kicking around the idea myself but I don’t see any advantage and I do see problems with converters for my lenses and such. Other than having the latest and greatest and making your present photography more complicated why are you changing? Convince me I am missing something. If it is just a straight up GAS attack I do understand that for sure. I would like for all my gear to be much lighter because of my age but that would require new cameras and all new very high priced lenses. Going all new mirrorless equipment to save weight is out of the question for me and just getting a mirrorless camera by itself is not helpful for me. I know the Z9 is a heavy camera like my D5 and I hate dealing with huge files also. I already thought about it all pretty hard.

I just added 32 gb ram and SSD drive and it is super fast. My PC is about 10 years old and I put the upgrades in for less than 600.00 using Dell parts.

I got a new 12.9”IPad Pro with keyaboard. Love this thing and Lightroom works fine. It is scary fast downloading Nikon D850 raw files. I bought it instead of the laptop to replace my older IPad. I think buy which ever you like best. The OS 15.2 is very good also. The Apple keypad is amazing. My Ipad seems to stay charged for a lot longer than the older ones. I will take it on the road taking pictures and use cell service to upload my pictures where wifi is not available.

I have all my equipment insured on my homeowners policy and have had claims paid with no adverse effect. I have been with the same company for 54 years and had many various claims on house, boat, cars. They cover my cell phones and I pad also. There are some really bad insurance companies that don’t want to pay anything anytime. Some are big names. Also, your insurance is only as good as your agent and cheaper is (usually) never better. You never know how good your insurance is as long as you don’t need to use it. Facts of life.

The Nikon 24-120 has been getting a bad rap for years from what I have read. Glad to here it is a good lens because they can be bought for a bargain. I learned something from you. Had I known sooner I would have bought that lens instead of the Tamron 35-150. The Tamron is a great lens but I could have saved a bunch of money and had a Nikon lens F4 all the way. Thanks for sharing your information.

I researched this lens for weeks. Never have I seen any lens of any brand with so many positive and negative reviews. It seemed either hate or love with not much in between. I liked the specifications and weight. The pictures posted by users of the lens ranged from ok to great. I wanted this lens and took a chance. I have no regrets and the lens stays on my D850 with beautiful results. I love the lens but was scared to death to try it. I am just passing this information on for others that might be looking at a lens purchase. I never saw a bad review of the lens when used on certain cameras. The Angry Photographer also proclaimed the lens junk but he is usually wrong when he says something is not good. I find his recommendations of equipment he is in favor of to be correct. Strange Dude.
Merry Christmas all.

The point and shoot mirrorless cameras are making a lot of photos. People can run around holding it up in one hand and it will focus and shoot lots of images without any skill needed. Reality will force people back to real photographers when the new wears off and they start comparing pictures of their own with a Pros. Lot more to beautiful pictures than focus.

I have known of many people owing the IRS and getting away with it or at least ridiculous low payments. You by any chance got a x wife working there? Something is up.

Lots of counterfeit stuff sold on Amazon and Ebay just as there are great sellers mixed in with a lot of crooks. Don’t think for one minute you’re ok just because you’re buying from Amazon. I remember when B&H got sold a bunch of counterfeit things to resell. Had to be embarrassing for them.

So glad for this informative post. So happens Adorama has been all but begging me to send my Sigma 120-300 2.8 lens to them after I asked for a quote. They been leaving me emails and prepaid shipping label and even voice messages daily. Very aggressive sent up a red flag for me and now I see your post.Thank you because I just had a perfect transaction with MPB. The quote was in writing and they paid very quickly. I have bought from Adorama some and never had a problem but you never know when a company goes bad until it does. Maybe a crook in their midst they haven’t caught up with yet. They had a bad reputation many years ago before turning things around if my memory is correct. Good reliable employees are becoming extinct and companies have to weed through them.

To me, the greatest risk in buying a grey market camera is that it would not be eligible for free repair in case of a recall, and there have been some serious recalls over the years. This link doesn't even mention the oil leaking all over the Nikon D610 shutter because the window for getting it fixed is closed. Nikon USA will still fix the D750 shutter issues and the "bright spots" in pictures with the D810. If you buy grey market and get one of these defective cameras, what are you doing to do? Can the seller help you without Nikon parts? Nikon USA won't touch it.

True or false?

So where do people in Europe and Asia get Nikon repairs? I buy a lot of Nikon products from a large camera shop in Tokyo. Great to deal with and my shipments usually get to me within 3 days. In my 70 years I have never needed any camera or lens repaired other than the Nikon D750 recall. Mine was not needing repair but was taken care of by Nikon. It was not a USA model.

It only matters for warranty work. - Not true with Nikon afaik, so you're passing on false info too.
