My son lives in Marquette, and he has taken me to several beautiful sites mentioned in these responses. When the colors are full strength, they are splendid almost anywhere! I'll try attaching a pic from Lake of the Clouds as a sample (I'll try lo-res to conserve bandwidth.)
I had similar problems with a trip to India, and I tried many of the suggestions already listed, with NO help. Then someone here said I should check my CARD READER that I use to transfer images to my computer. Bingo! That fixed everything. I had never had problems with that card reader before so I had not even thought of it. If nothing else is helping, give this a try.
Thanks for sharing this info!! I've been tempted to try that idea of one lens and lots of step-up rings, and you already did it and reported the results. I'll just have to carry the whole kit, it seems. Good to know!
It was those beautiful big negatives 2 1/4" square!
That's the camera that my college gave me to use as a school photographer! 2 1/4 square Tri-X film developed in Microdol. Great camera and lenses, as long as you could guestimate proper shutter speed and f-stop.
Wow, indeed! Congrats on steady hand and crisp focus!
A lovely set of lunar encounters! Thanks for sharing them.
Worked perfectly on my Sony a6500 and newer a7RIII. Many thanks!
Your suggestion about the card reader was brilliant!
My desktop computer does not have a card reader, so I had bought one at MicroCenter, which worked fine when I bought it. Using it became a regular part of my workflow. But after your suggestion about the card reader, I realized that my notebook computer DOES have a built-in reader, so I pulled it out and checked my most recent SD card (where the posted pix above came from) and it worked! It is so helpful to have an outside observer see things that are too ingrained in my usual processes. Thanks very very much for the insight and suggestions!
I'll try to post the picture that my notebook computer pulled from the card. It's the same frame number that the above pic with the moon and blue color bands created. No color silliness; just the moon and planets!
Thanks all for the card reader suggestion. I can certainly experiment with that. It's always worked fine before, but I know those things do wear out.
As to the comment about exposure, I was experimenting with trying multiple exposures to catch the moon, Jupiter, and Saturn in a close triangle recently. So yes, in this particular pic the moon was over-exposed because I was trying to get the two planets to show up, then change setting for the next picture to properly expose the moon, then merge the two pix.
Second try to send sample Haunted Cameras pic. All these were taken on the same night, on tripod. Only the last one is usable, obviously.
Thanks for you very quick responses! I'm new to this process, so I didn't quite know the procedure. I can try to resend. And I don't know how to send the pix to Sony.
Sorry, I tried attaching, but it doesn't look like it worked.
After a recent trip to India, my Sony a6500 and my Sony RX100 VI seem to be haunted by a colorful ghost! Random swashes of color (orange, green, purple, magenta) was across my pix. I can't seem to find any specific trigger for this behavior. It seems to afflict pix while using various lenses or SD cards and various setting (ISO, f-stop, shutter speed). I shoot in RAW +JPG, and the problem is the same in both formats. I even set up an appointment with a "Sony tech" who was supposed to answer questions about Sony equipment, and he had no clue.
Right now both cameras are essentially useless because I can't count on them to produce usable output.
Have any of you folks encountered this dilemma? I'll attach samples below. Any feedback would be helpful!
My Dell wide-quad 34" monitor is wonderful! The curve is slight and not any problem. It replaced a dual-display setup, and I would not want to go back. I have the flexibility to place open folders and Photoshop tools out of my workspace but available, so I have much more room for the photo I'm actually working on. I can even have Youtube music playing with the screen area visible to make selection changes without needing to pop screens up and down to find new selections while I'm editing photos. I find it very annoying to have to jump in and out of folders because screen real estate is so limited, as I must do with my 15" notebook when traveling. Then I can't wait to get back to my phenomenal curved screen monitor!
