The 43-86 was my second lens for my Ftn in 1970. It was okay for shooting birthday parties and such, but it did a lousy job with any serious subject. Very fuzzy in the corners. Ever since I got my 105/2.5, it's been in a box in the basement. It's still there.

When in doubt, blame the computer (the most complicated part of the equation), not the card. Your OS probably didn't grant the proper permissions to the card.
That's the lens Kubrick used for "HAL" in 2001- A Space Odyssey. Of course, he destroyed the lenses putting in the red light. I guess that upped the value of your lens.

Aircraft cannot be certified without IV&V (Independent Verification &Validation) of the software. Ref DO-178C, DO-254, etc, and RTCA. It's not perfect (consider the 737-Max), but overall, the aircraft industry has an impressive safety record.
