Being an enthusiast bee keeper, I really like the spring time. Spent some time in the front garden trying out a new lens hoping to get a few shots I liked. Took a while and more than a few tries. The little suckers are fast!

My hometown is the "Sparkling City by the Sea," Corpus Christi. If you haven't been there, it's a nice place to visit in the Spring or Fall. I never saw a rattler there.

I like your second shot. He gave you a good pose.

I lived in Corpus Crispy (my kids pronunciation - when young) for several years. Lived on Padre Island and actually found a sidewinder on the beach one morning. Never knew they got that far east.

As for critters I see regularly now that could inflict injury, snake wise we see timber rattlers, copperheads, and coral snakes every year. Posted up a couple of weeks ago with a picture of a timber rattler found in the garage.

Good shot, Splash, but sure wouldn't want to find one of them in our garage...or anywhere!

Thanks for the comment on the picture. we've been discussing methods for keeping them out. I guess it really starts with keeping the door closed!

Good picture. I guess no one got bit. One thing I have trouble understanding about this snake being a threatened species & being protected when many protected bird species are being killed by the wind generators. That snake could be very dangerous, but when is the last time someone was endangered by a bird?

Thank you for the comment on the picture. No one was bitten. We're pretty carefull around snakes and watch where we're stepping in the woods around us. This was the first time we found them inside though.

Carefully inshrine the snake into a protective canvus bag, and deliver it to the environmentiolist or the judge that passed such a stupid, one sided law.

Carefully would be right! And I pretty much agree with the sentiment. Except I don't handle venemous snakes. I do relocate non-venemous snakes so my wife can sleep easier. Right or wrong, most venemous snakes are killed. We get a lot of visiors, some with kids, and our dog has been bitten by a copperhead once.

endangered or not, they would have to be moved by someone or else. Could it have been the same snake?

Definitely not the same snake. But they might be related! Which is not a good thought. In other words, where's Mama?
